Eddie Butita hails Mbavu Destroyer’s grand WWE-like entrance before crushing defeat
By Steve Ireri, April 5, 2026Comedian and content creator Eddie Butita has weighed in on the outcome of the highly publicised Vurugu Fight Night, reflecting on Mbavu Destroyer’s dramatic entrance and how it contrasted sharply with his eventual defeat.
Speaking about the bout in a video shared on his TikTok page on Sunday, April 5, 2026, Butita noted that while many might feel sympathy for Mbavu Destroyer following the loss, the circumstances surrounding the fight also left room for mixed reactions among fans.
“Mbavu Destroyer, you might want to pity him after the embarrassing defeat, but you end up laughing. Some words, when you overthink them, take on completely different meanings,” he said.
He pointed out that Mbavu Destroyer had since come out to claim that his loss was influenced by a controversial blow and that his opponent targeted his private area during the match. According to Butita, such claims have sparked conversations, especially among those who closely followed the fight.
“I have seen Mbavu in a video claiming that he lost because his opponent went for his private parts and hit him there, and he kept repeating that,” he said.
WWE-level entrance
However, Butita appeared more captivated by the events leading up to the bout, particularly Mbavu Destroyer’s grand entrance into the arena.
He described it as a top-tier production that rivalled global wrestling showcases, noting that the level of detail and presentation gave the impression of a world-class fighter stepping into the ring.
“But I remember, and everyone who watched saw, the introduction Mbavu Destroyer had while getting into the ring. It was insane, top-level. The intro even made me think The Undertaker had come to Kasarani. He had a well-done video playing on the screens, like international boxers. That intro was crazy,” Butita said.

The comedian remarked that the entrance was so elaborate and electrifying that it momentarily gave the feel of a WWE-style spectacle, complete with a cinematic build-up that stood out as one of the most memorable moments of the night. He observed that few, if any, other fighters that evening matched the intensity and creativity of Mbavu’s introduction.
“I do not remember anyone else that night coming close to such an entrance. But it is so unfortunate that he lost,” he added.
Despite this, Butita congratulated Majembe for securing the win, while also applauding Oga Obinna and the Vurugu organisers for successfully putting together an event that captured national attention.
“Congratulations to Majembe, and big up to Oga Obinna and Team Vurugu for putting this together. It is one for the books,” he said.
He further expressed hope that both fighters could be nurtured and developed into professional boxers, noting that the level of support they have received from Kenyans presents a unique opportunity to elevate their careers to the global stage.
“My only wish now is that we look at how we can mould them into professional boxers so they can compete worldwide. These fighters have the country’s backing, and I am sure we are witnessing another success story. We expect more,” he added.
The bout, which had been scheduled for ten rounds, was ultimately decided by judges after four rounds, cementing Majembe’s dominance on the night.
