Diana Marua declares herself Kenya’s most booked female rapper

YouTuber and rapper Diana Marua has opened up about her music career while recalling the backlash she received after attempting a remix of Bahati’s song My One and Only.
Speaking during a candid conversation with her husband, Bahati, on her YouTube channel, Marua, in the light-hearted yet revealing exchange, recalled the criticism she faced when she first tried to step into music.
“Kenyans hamukunifanyia vizuri. I was just trying to start a career,” Diana said.
Bahati, however, responded playfully, reminding her of how it all began.
“No, you were a comedian,” he joked, sparking laughter between the two.
Diana went on to explain that her journey into music was not straightforward. Before finding her footing, she had initially been exploring different paths.
“I was just trying to see if vlogging would not work; I was very committed to see what else I would get into,” she added.

According to her, singing didn’t quite fit, but rap did.
“Singing was not for me but rapping was,” Diana said confidently.
At one point, Bahati teased her again, saying, “Hapo umeweka aibu lakini ni sawa tu,” to which Diana quickly fired back, “Nimekuweka aibu? Na nini?” showing their playful chemistry.
The conversation then turned more heartfelt as Diana sought validation from her husband and biggest supporter.
“Can you commend me for how proud I have made you, tangu unilaunch nishawai kuangusha kama msanii?” she asked.
Without hesitation, Bahati responded, “Haujawai,” affirming his belief in her growth and consistency.

Diana on her music growth
Diana used the moment to highlight her success, boldly declaring her place in the industry.
“Am the booked female rapper in the 254, leo niko Nakuru, Kesho niko Embu, Kesho Eldoret, ” she said, emphasising her busy schedule and rising demand across the country.
She also acknowledged Bahati’s role in her journey, noting that his investment in her career has paid off.
“You have invested in me, and I have made you proud,” Diana B added.
