Ciru Muriuki urges young women to prioritize themselves in 2026
By Nancy Marende, January 1, 2026Media personality Ciru Muriuki has urged young women to make 2026 the year they intentionally choose themselves and fiercely protect their personal boundaries.
Speaking on TikTok on Thursday, January 1, 2025, Ciru addressed women ages 20 to 40, encouraging them to be “almost militantly jealous” about their boundaries.
“So I am talking to girls aged between 20 and 40. I want you to take it from an older woman: let 2026 be the year that you are absolutely and almost militantly jealous about your boundaries,” she said.
She noted that many women are socialised to constantly put the needs of others first, often at the expense of their own well-being.

Drawing comparisons from her personal experiences, Ciru explained that even good men tend to prioritise themselves before taking care of others.
“Choose yourself; when you look at how men move, a man will always make sure he is okay first, before he starts caring about other people. And I am talking about good men, I am not talking about the demons that are roaming the earth now like pestilence,” she added.
She cited her late father as an example, observing that he always ensured he was okay before providing for his family.
She emphasised that society has conditioned women to believe that being a good wife, mother, daughter, or partner requires self-sacrifice and self-abandonment.
“And so that’s all I wish for young women right now, because we have been socialised in a really harmful way. That for us to be considered as good women, we, mothers and daughters, have to abandon ourselves and put the needs of others first.”
This comes a few weeks after she opened up about her weight-loss journey, revealing that she turned to medical interventions, including weight-loss injections, after struggling with rapid weight gain and low energy levels.
Speaking during a BBC interview on December 13, 2025, Ciru said she reached a point where she felt too big and too sluggish, prompting her to take decisive action.
Her first step was undergoing a gastric balloon procedure in 2023, which helped kick-start her journey towards better health.

However, by mid-2025, Ciru noticed her weight rising again. She explained that it was not that the earlier interventions had failed, but rather that she could see a worrying trend forming and wanted to stop it before it escalated.
“I knew where this was going, and I needed to stop it before it got there,” she said.
Further, she stated that her research into weight-loss injections revealed benefits beyond shedding kilos.
