Celebs commend Butita’s perspective on marriages after Njugush and Celestine Ndinda’s split
By Ascah Mwango, April 23, 2026As the Kenyan entertainment industry continues to reel from the shock separation of comedy power couple Njugush and Celestine Ndinda, fellow comic Eddie Butita has delivered a viral masterclass in the art of discretion.
In a move that has been hailed as genius by his peers, Butita took to Instagram on Thursday April 23, 2026, to share what he called ‘silent advice’ on how to make a marriage last in the digital age.
However, in a clever twist that poked fun at the deluge of experts currently flooding social media, Butita’s video featured a segment where he appeared to be speaking passionately, only for the audio to be completely muted.
“I just thought I should talk about something to do with marriage and relationships,” Butita began the video.
“You see one thing that I have noticed about marriage is that the only thing you need to do is…”
The video then cut to the comedian uttering several seconds of incoherent, silent mouth movements.
Returning with audio, he concluded: “Just like that, you will be surprised if you do it, you will be surprised.”
The stunt was a pointed commentary on his belief that the most stable parts of a relationship are those that remain quiet and offline.
Butita has long advocated for intentionality, suggesting that once a couple brings their romance into the public eye, they lose control over its survival to external pressures.
Celebrity response
The response from the Kenyan celebrity community was immediate, with stars who have lived through their own public relationship dramas lining up to praise the perspective.
“You are a wise man!” wrote Judy Nyawira, wife of director Abel Mutua.
Actress Idah Alisha, of Mother-In-Law fame, was equally impressed, commenting: “WOW!!! Even with my many years I’ve never heard advice as good as this!!!!!!”
Gospel singer Daddy Owen, who has been candid about his own marital struggles in the past, added: “Ukweli, kwanza hapo mwisho 👌 speaking from experience (Truth, especially that last part… speaking from experience).”
Other stars including Hopekid chimed in, with the singer admitting: “I’ve never seen it in that perspective 👏👏.”

Butita’s silent advice touches on a growing concern among influencers regarding the ‘Social Media Trap’.
He implies that when couples turn their private lives into a public spectacle for likes and views, they inevitably lose that privacy to the public, making a potential breakup or reconciliation far more complicated.
The comedian, who keeps his own relationship with partner Celestein largely off-camera, warned against entering unions with ‘get-out plans’ or based on casual ‘soul ties’.
As the public continues to dissect the end of Njugush and Celestine’s decade-long partnership, Butita’s message is clear: the secret to a lasting marriage might just be knowing when to keep the cameras off and the microphones muted.
