Zuchu reveals she gave birth via C-section after baby was trapped by the umbilical cord

Tanzanian singer Zuhura Othman, popularly known as Zuchu, has finally revealed that she gave birth to her baby girl through a C-section rather than natural delivery, as many had anticipated.

In a Snapchat story on Sunday, August 16, 2026, the ‘Sukari’ hitmaker revealed that doctors ultimately recommended a C-section after discovering that her baby had become entangled in the umbilical cord.

Zuchu, who is married to Bongo Flava icon Diamond Platnumz, shared that the umbilical cord had become wrapped around the baby, making it difficult and potentially unsafe for her to deliver naturally.

“My daughter was trapped by the umbilical cord. Ilimzunguka, so we had no choice,” she wrote.

This came after a Snapchat fan using the handle @lee asked her to explain why she ultimately underwent a C-section, despite many people expecting her to deliver naturally.

Lee explained that the question was prompted by the considerable effort Zuchu had put into her pre-birth exercises, which many had hoped would help her deliver the baby naturally.

“How did you end up with a C-section, baby? Na mazoezi yote haya, daa Zuchu,” Lee wrote.

Pregnancy mood swings

On the same Snapchat stories, the singer revealed that her pregnancy was not without its share of drama, recalling a time she wanted to slap her husband, Diamond Platnumz, for no apparent reason after waking up in the middle of the night.

Zuchu revealed that the pregnancy made her dislike Diamond so much that thoughts of hitting him would unexpectedly cross her mind without restraint.

“I hated him, yaani nilikuwa simpendi hapo kama nimtie kofi,” she wrote.

This came after a Snapchat fan using the handle @Brunelle asked her to clarify whether she experienced mood swings and whether she troubled the ‘Komosava’ hitmaker in any way during her nine-month pregnancy journey.

The fan also asked Zuchu to come clean on whether she developed unusual dislikes during the pregnancy, including not wanting to smell Diamond’s body odour or the perfumes he used.

“Did you trouble Diamond through your pregnancy or not like his perfumes or anything?” the fan asked.

‘It’s a girl’

Diamond and Zuchu welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, with both singers turning to Instagram to announce the arrival and share their first emotional reactions to becoming parents.

Diamond was the first to break the news, welcoming his daughter with a heartfelt message in which he described her as a precious addition to the family.

“Welcome to the world, our precious little angel. You are already loved more than words can ever say!” he wrote.

Zuchu followed shortly afterwards with a brief but deeply personal message that captured the significance of the moment for her as she embraced motherhood.

“My whole world,” she wrote.

The arrival of the baby came only days after the couple held a lavish baby shower attended by family members and close friends, where pink decorations helped reveal that they were expecting a girl.

The celebration also attracted attention after Diamond presented Zuchu with a cash gift of Ksh3.87 million, describing it as a small token of appreciation for carrying their child.
