YY: I will be going round the country showcasing completed govt projects

Comedian Oliver Otieno alias YY has announced plans to tour different parts of the country to showcase government projects that have been completed, are ongoing or are yet to be completed.
YY made the remarks while showcasing a newly built affordable housing project under the government’s Boma Yangu programme in Vihiga County.
The project is located in Milimani, Vihiga, and comprises 220 housing units. According to the government’s information, the development includes different categories of units, including one-, two- and three-bedroom houses as well as studio apartments.
YY said his upcoming tour will focus on giving Kenyans a view of projects on the ground rather than relying solely on claims about their progress.
“I will be going round the country showcasing projects that are complete,” YY said on Tuesday, September 29,2026.
Reasons behind his move
The comedian went on to say that the same way stalled government projects are being showcased, he will also move around the country showcasing projects that are ongoing and those that have already been completed.
“The same way we showcase projects, zenye zimesimama? It is the same way we are going to see projects that are complete, projects that are happening, and projects that are done,” he disclosed.
YY said the tours would allow Kenyans to see the actual progress of various projects for themselves.
“So I will be moving around the country to show us projects that are actually happening. Leo tutajua kama ni kaongo ama ni kakweli,” he added.
YY on political expectations
The announcement comes days after YY spoke about political choices and the need for people to have their own opinions during elections.
On September 22, 2026, the comedian questioned why people would expect others to make the same political choices as them.
“Between you and me, who would you choose? Of course you would choose you. Now the problem is that you will choose you, but you also want me to choose you. So who chooses me?” YY said.
He also questioned whether expecting others to follow one’s political choice amounts to greed.
“If you want to choose you, and I also have to choose you, are you not greedy? Isn’t that greed, surely?” YY added.
His latest move shifts his focus to development projects, with the comedian saying he intends to physically visit projects across the country and document what he finds.
The Vihiga affordable housing project is among the developments already showcased by YY as he begins highlighting projects that are complete and those still under implementation.
