Singer Wahu has opened up about how being labelled as a strong woman left her feeling overwhelmed, prompting her to let go of the pressure to hold everything together and be there for everyone.

Wahu explained that she reached a point where she realised that being seen as strong came with expectations that left her struggling to prioritise her own happiness. She said she decided to stop holding herself to the standards she had set and allow herself to rest.

“The moment I realised being labelled as ‘strong’ was a doorway to overwhelm…I let go. Of holding it together, & being there for everyone, of striving for perfection,” Wahu said on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The singer said she chose to embrace a different approach to life by allowing herself to do things that made her happy. She also explained that she was no longer afraid to ask for help when she needed it.

“I welcomed rest, and normalised doing things because they make me happy, asking for help, and officially entered my baby gal era,” Wahu said.

Embracing rest and letting go of expectations

Wahu’s decision to let go of the pressure to be strong marked a change in how she approached her responsibilities and personal happiness. She explained that she had previously focused on holding everything together and being available for everyone around her.

By choosing to welcome rest, the singer said she was allowing herself to enjoy life without constantly striving for perfection. She also embraced asking for help instead of feeling the need to handle everything on her own.

She said she was now prioritising activities that brought her happiness and allowing herself to enjoy her baby gal era.

Women are often labelled as strong when they take on responsibilities and support the people around them. However, the label can also come with expectations that they should always be available, handle challenges without help and keep going even when they feel overwhelmed.

For some women, being seen as strong can make it difficult to admit when they need support or a break. The pressure to hold everything together can leave little room for rest and personal happiness.

Modern women are increasingly embracing the freedom to ask for help, set boundaries and prioritise their well-being. Rather than being expected to remain strong at all times, they want room to express their needs, rest and enjoy life without feeling guilty.
