TikTokers demand public viewing of Zack Apela’s body before contributing to support family

Questions have emerged within Kenya’s TikTok community over the death of popular content creator Zack Apela after several creators publicly expressed doubts, claiming they have yet to see his body despite days passing since his family announced his death.
During a TikTok Live discussion on Friday, July 10, 2026, several Kenyan creators based in Kenya and the US questioned why no public viewing or official details regarding the whereabouts of Zack’s body have been shared, with some saying they remain unconvinced until they are allowed to view his remains.
TikToker Emmy America said she had intended to travel and console the bereaved family but claimed the lack of information about the location of the body had left her unable to do so.
“It is now like they don’t want us to view the body. I wanted to book a flight and go there to console them, but they have not shared any details of where Zack’s body is. I cannot go to a place I don’t know,” he said.
Another creator, Collins Omondi, insisted that the family, particularly Zack’s brother Dr Solo, should first produce Zack’s body before expecting members of the TikTok community to fully accept the news.
“We are rejecting Solo, who is the brother, until he shows us Zack’s body and brings it to us,” Collins stated.
TikToker Diana Rose also weighed in, revealing that she had spoken to Dr Solo shortly after Zack’s reported death.
According to her, the two had agreed to meet during the first week following the announcement, but the planned meeting never resulted in members of the community seeing Zack’s body.
“I talked with Solo. He is also in America and told me we could meet on Friday, during the first week after Zack’s death,” she said.

Reacting to Diana Rose’s remarks, fellow creator Mali Safi suggested that had she managed to visit the family, fundraising efforts would likely have gained more momentum.
“If you had gone there, Diana Rose, things would have been much easier. By now we could already have raised maybe millions to support the family, but we can’t,” Mali Safi remarked.
He further questioned why only Dr Solo appeared to have firsthand knowledge of Zack’s death.
“So now it seems Solo is the only one who knows Zack died. Now we will have to ask what killed Zack,” he added.
Emmy America echoed similar concerns, claiming that, to his knowledge, no other Kenyan living in the United States had publicly confirmed seeing Zack’s body.
“So it seems all Kenyans in America, apart from Solo, have not seen the body,” he claimed.
Collins Omondi also questioned why the family had not allowed members of the community to view the body.
“I wonder why they are hiding the body. If we all viewed Raila Odinga’s body, then who is Zack, and why would they not bring his body to us?” he posed.
Burial plans
During a family update, Dr Solo revealed that the burial had been tentatively scheduled for July 18, 2026, although he noted that the date would depend on the success of fundraising efforts.
He disclosed that transporting Zack’s body from the United States to Kenya would cost approximately USD35,000 (about Ksh4.5 million), describing it as the family’s biggest challenge.
Dr Solo appealed to Kenyans and members of the TikTok community to support the fundraising effort, saying Zack had touched many lives through his online content and deserved a dignified send-off.
The family also unveiled official donation channels, including a Paybill number, Cash App details and other payment options to facilitate contributions toward the body repatriation and funeral expenses.
