TikTok dancer Diaso responds after claims he bleached his skin

Kenyan TikTok dancer Diaso has responded to claims that he bleached his skin, dismissing the allegations and saying the noticeable change in his appearance is instead linked to improved self-care.

Speaking in an interview shared by Prince Newton on TikTok on Sunday, August 2, 2026, Diaso said people should not be quick to conclude that someone has bleached their skin simply because their complexion appears to have changed, noting that there could be several reasons behind such a transformation.

The TikTok dancer said a sudden change in someone’s skin could be caused by health issues, personal choices or other factors, insisting that people should avoid making claims about others without knowing the truth.

“You see, when someone’s skin changes abruptly, you should ask yourself, apart from bleaching, what else could be causing the change? That person might be sick, or maybe they have truly bleached, or maybe they are doing something else,” he said.

Diaso further criticised people who accuse others of bleaching without knowing them personally, saying such claims can be unfair and should not be made without proper knowledge of what someone could be going through.

“But now, coming to perpetrate claims that the person is bleaching yet you do not even know them personally is not okay,” he added.

The dancer then directly addressed the speculation surrounding his own appearance, making it clear that he had not bleached his skin.

“Actually, let me make it clear: I have not bleached my skin,” Diaso said.

Diaso explained that the changes people were noticing were a result of taking better care of himself compared to the past.

He said that he previously paid little attention to his appearance, including his skin and face, and had not prioritised personal grooming or maintaining a smooth complexion.

“What is happening is that it is not even the quality of pictures I take now. You see, back then, I never used to take care of myself, my body, my face and that. I never aspired to things like having smooth skin and such. But now I do. That is why,” he explained.

Lydia’s take on bleaching

Following the circulation of the bleaching claims, Digital creator Lydia Wanjiru explained that she first came across the conversation online before deciding to compare Diaso’s older content with his recent videos to understand why the topic had attracted so much attention.

She said she initially considered whether the change in appearance could have been caused by lighting or camera quality before forming her opinion.

“There is this thing I’ve seen online, and I just have to talk about it and share my opinion. If you are a fan of TikTok, you’ve probably seen the story about Diaso bleaching. I went and looked at his previous videos and compared them with his recent ones, especially those with his girlfriend, and I felt people could be right,” Lydia said.

She, however, made it clear that her remarks were based on her personal opinion and not on any confirmation from Diaso.

Lydia added that even if Diaso had chosen to lighten his skin, she would not judge him because people have the freedom to make personal decisions about their bodies.

“And whether he’s bleaching knowingly or unknowingly, I’m not against it. Everyone can do whatever they want with their body,” Lydia said.
