Stevo Simple Boy says people once claimed he could not father children

Kenyan rapper Stevo Simple Boy has opened up about fatherhood, revealing that some people once doubted his ability to have children or even find a partner.
Speaking during a candid conversation with the Mic Cheque podcast, the freshi barida hitmaker said many people viewed him as a man who did not understand himself and had no future, leading some to claim that he could not father children.
“Kuna watu walikuwa wanasema Stevo hawezi zalisha,” Stevo said.
Stevo, whose real name is Stephen Otieno Adera, further recalled how some people even doubted that he could get a girlfriend.
“Kwanza walikuwa wanasema Stevo hawezi pata dem,” he recalled.
He explained that the perception was largely based on how people viewed him.
“Watu wengi wananichukulia ati mimi sijielewi sina future,” he explained.
Stevo on fatherhood
Stevo, however, has since embraced fatherhood and said he enjoys being recognised as a father.
The rapper also shared a glimpse into his experience as a father, saying he feels a sense of accomplishment whenever he returns home and his son cries upon seeing him.
“Napenda hiyo sifa ya kuwa baba mtu pia nikifika kwa nyumba mtoto analialia nasema hapa nimegonga ndipo,” he said.
Despite enjoying fatherhood, Stevo admitted that one aspect he does not like is losing his freedom.
“Yenye haifurahishi ni ile kuwa na freedom hakuna,” he added.
The rapper is a father to a son, Dragon Junior, whom he shares with his partner, Brenda. Stevo has previously spoken about his plans to unveil his son’s face to the public.
Son’s face reveal
This comes after the rapper announced that he will finally reveal the face of his son, Dragon Junior, after keeping him away from the public eye for months.
Taking to his official social media accounts on Friday, August 7, 2026, Stevo said the face reveal will take place on September 5, 2026. He added that the moment will be about celebrating beauty in all its forms and embracing people regardless of their appearance.
“Dragon Junior’s face reveal: Nimekaa kimya sana ni wakati wa kujivunia mwonekano wetu, kila mtu ako biuri kivyake,” Stevo revealed.
“Tarehe tano mwezi wa tisa nitakuwa mstari wa mbele kujivunia mwonekano wangu kwa kuonyesha sura ya mtoto, yani face reveal.”
The rapper’s remarks highlight how his journey into fatherhood has challenged the assumptions some people previously held about his personal life and future.
