Shatta Bway explains why remarrying after Becky’s death would be difficult

The media personality in a candid conversation with Robertta Bobbie said love is not something that automatically happens when two people meet, but rather a commitment that requires daily effort.
“Love can always show up if you allow it, but it would not be automatic the first person you meet, but hiyo time, because love is a commitment you make every day; you wake up and decide, you know what? I love this person, and I will put in the work,” Shatta said.
Shatta Bway noted that people who assume love happens automatically may fail to understand the effort required to maintain a relationship.
“If you think that it is automatic, hivyo ndio uinawachangwa ati tutapendana tu, sasa hiyo time ya kuput in that work ndio sina because am too busy na watoto,” he added.
Shatta on bond with Becky
Reflecting on his late wife, Shatta Bway described Becky as a loving and hard-working woman, highlighting the special bond they shared.
“Becky was very loving and hard-working,” Shatta recalled.
He also recalled how Becky supported their communication when they were younger, revealing that she bought him his first smartphone so they could keep in touch.
“My first smartphone ni yeye ndio aliniletea, aliniambia chukua hii simu ndio tukuwe tunaongea,” he added.
He said the memories of Becky and the love they shared have made him question whether he would ever be able to love another person in the same way.
“I think that is way sifikiri. I can ever love like that. I do not want to say ‘replace’ because that is not possible, but to love like that, itakuwa ngumu,” he explained.
Shatta Bway and Becky got married when they were both 19, marking the beginning of a relationship that he now says would be difficult to replicate.
Shatta keeping wife’s memory
During his wife’s burial on July 1, 2023, Shatta made a deeply emotional gesture by cutting one of his locks, symbolising the end of a significant chapter in his life.
The media personality had the dreadlock cut in front of his family, friends and colleagues who attended the burial of his late wife, Rebecca.
Speaking during the event, Shatta said that this was part of the promise he had made to his wife when she was alive.
According to Shatta, having to bury the love of his life was the beginning of him fulfilling the promise he had made her.
“Nilimwambia, siku moja nikipata a worth course nitakuwa nakata nywele moja-moja to make sure I never forget the event, and the event that I promised to start with her,” Shatta Bway said.
With the promise fulfilled, the radio presenter then placed the lock on his late wife’s coffin, asking her to go well as he embarks on a new chapter without her.
