Samidoh reveals what young people want as he pushes Ol Joro Orok MP bid
By Valerian Khakayi, September 30, 2026Mugithi singer Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, has highlighted talent development as one of the areas he believes can create opportunities for young people as he continues his bid for the Ol Joro Orok parliamentary seat.
In a statement shared on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Samidoh said young people have talent in abundance but need support to turn their abilities into skills, opportunities and sources of livelihood.
“Our young people have talent in abundance. What they need is someone to believe in them, nurture that talent and create a pathway where their gift can become a skill, an opportunity and ultimately a source of livelihood,” Samidoh said.
The musician made the remarks while touring the grassroots, where he met a young talent identified as Sammy wa Marata.
Samidoh’s promise to young talent
Samidoh said talent should not remain undiscovered and called for efforts to identify and nurture young people with potential.
“Talent should not remain a hidden gift. Let us discover it, nurture it and give it a chance to grow,” he added.
He said his interaction with Sammy wa Marata convinced him of the young man’s potential, promising to support his music journey.
“As I toured Mashinani, I met this young and talented brother, Sammy wa Marata. His talent is impressive, and I see great potential in him,” Samidoh stated.
The singer further pledged to help Sammy record his first songs through the Samidoh Foundation.
“I will hold his hand, support him and help produce his first few songs through the Samidoh Foundation,” he said.
Samidoh’s Ol Joro Orok bid
Samidoh formally declared his intention to contest the Ol Joro Orok parliamentary seat in Nyandarua County in August 2026, describing the constituency as his home. He said his decision was informed by his understanding of the challenges facing residents and his desire to participate directly in decision-making.
As part of his stated agenda, Samidoh has previously highlighted education, vocational training, talent development and economic opportunities for young people.
He has also said his political ambitions should be assessed beyond his career as a musician, arguing that his professional and life experiences have shaped his interest in public service.
