Salasya tells Obinna to plan contract signing after Kibe accepts boxing challenge
By Valerian Khakayi, July 2, 2026Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has called on media personality Steve Thompson Maghana, widely known as Oga Obinna to organise a live contract-signing after Andrew Kibe accepted his challenge to face off in the Vurugu 3 celebrity boxing event.
Salasya’s response comes shortly after Kibe publicly confirmed he was ready to step into the ring, saying he would begin training once the legislator signed a legally binding agreement. Kibe also proposed that the fight be held on December 1 to allow enough time for preparation.
Responding to the development, Salasya urged Obinna to set a date next week for the official signing of the fight contract.
“Obinna, plan for a day next week live on your show; we sign papers for the Vurugu on December 1,” Salasya said on Thursday, July 1, 2026.
His remarks signal that he is ready to formalise the much-talked-about bout, which has generated significant buzz on social media.

Obinna on the match
Earlier, Obinna expressed excitement after Kibe accepted the challenge, saying it looked like the highly anticipated clash was finally taking shape.
He also called on Kibe’s fans to verify that the social media account announcing the acceptance was authentic before urging Salasya to begin preparing for the fight.
“I think we have a MATCH!! KIBE vs SALASYA #vurugu3 #obinnatvstudios Hebu mafans wa Kibe waconfirm kama ni real account.
@peter_salasya anza Tizi gathee,” Obinna wrote.

Salasya vs Kibe
The proposed bout follows months of online exchanges between Kibe and Salasya, who have frequently traded barbs on social media.
Obinna has already thrown his weight behind the contest, pledging an initial prize purse of Ksh2 million.
He said the amount could rise to Ksh5 million through sponsorship if the fight goes ahead.
“@peter_salasya, your wish is my command. Talk to him to accept the challenge. We start by putting in 2M hard cash. I’m sure it can get to 5M #Vurugu3″, Obinna posted.
“Salasya doesn’t really need the money; his opponent does. Let’s go!!!”
With Kibe accepting the challenge and Salasya now pushing for a live contract signing, attention has shifted to whether the two will officially put pen to paper and make the Vurugu 3 showdown a reality.
