Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has shared a humorous account of how a woman he met on a flight to Abu Dhabi ended up braiding his hair during the journey.

Salasya shared the experience on Instagram on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, as he travelled to the United Arab Emirates for a business trip.

According to the MP, he was seated next to the woman when she offered to keep him busy during the flight by working on his hair.

Salasya said the woman introduced herself as someone who was “idle” and asked whether she could spend the three-hour journey doing his hair. He accepted the offer, only to later joke that he could not return to Kenya looking the way he did after the transformation.

“I met a hardworking young woman on the plane, so I was seated next to her. She told me, ‘Mhesh, I’m so idle. Can I get busy for three hours making your hair? By the time you get to Abu Dhabi, you’ll be looking sharp,’” Salasya said.

The MP then shared his reaction to the finished hairstyle, comparing his new look to footballers Didier Drogba and Michael Olise.

“Now I stood up and looked at myself. I can’t return to Kenya looking like this. I look like Drogba Mwitu or Sande Olise,” he joked.

The post appeared to capture the lighter side of Salasya’s journey as he travelled outside the country for his latest trip.

Salasya heads to UAE for business trip

Before sharing the hair-braiding experience, Salasya had announced that he was leaving Kenya for a visit to the Middle East. He said the trip would combine business engagements with an opportunity to meet friends and explore possible opportunities.

“I will miss Kenya as I take my visit to the Middle East. Wasee wa Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudia, I’m on my way. So friends who stay there, be prepared. We will link up,” he wrote.

Looking for investors in Mumias East

Salasya also explained that the trip was linked to his efforts to attract investors to Mumias East. He said he was travelling to the UAE to pursue business opportunities and encourage investors to consider projects in his constituency.

Among the areas he mentioned were local talent, indigenous vegetables and technology. His aim, according to the post, is to explore opportunities that can bring investment into Mumias East across different sectors.
