Pastor Kanyari reveals why Betty Bayo’s mum is living a sad life in the US
By Steve Ireri, July 12, 2026Salvation Healing Ministry founder Pastor Victor Kanyari has opened up about his relationship with the family of his late ex-wife Betty Bayo, claiming her mother is currently living a sad life in the United States because she has been unable to see him reunited with his two children.
Speaking during his Sunday, July 12, 2026, service, Kanyari said Betty Bayo’s mother had always wished for him to be the one raising his children following her daughter’s death, but admitted that things between them have since deteriorated.
According to the preacher, the two are currently not on good terms despite her previous efforts to see him regain custody of the children.
“Nowadays, Betty Bayo’s mum is so sad as she continues with life in America because she wants me to be the one living with my kids, but we are now fighting,” Kanyari said.
The preacher also took the opportunity to dismiss claims circulating on social media suggesting that he has failed to regain custody because his children do not want to live with him.
He termed the reports as baseless rumours created by people seeking attention online.
“I even saw newspapers claiming that the reason I don’t have custody of my kids is that the kids do not want me. Those are rumours. Please stop listening to what people perpetrate,” he said.
Kanyari argued that misinformation has become common on social media, claiming some content creators deliberately spread negative stories about public figures simply to attract views and remain relevant.
“You know some people have to speak ill about someone for them to trend. If they don’t do that, no one may listen to them, which is why you see them saying such things about me,” he added.
Plans to adopt Kanyari’s daughter
In a similar development, Tanzanian influencer Godlove Mwakibete, popularly known as Chief Godlove, expressed admiration for the televangelist’s daughter Sky Victor and jokingly declared his desire to become her stepfather.
Speaking in a TikTok video on Thursday, June 25, 2026, Chief also addressed questions surrounding a recent video in which he sought to know Sky’s age.
The Tanzanian content creator explained that his interest in Sky stemmed from admiration for her personality and intelligence rather than any negative intentions.
According to Chief Godlove, he has been following some of Sky’s online appearances and was impressed by what he saw.
“And the reason why I did a video asking how old Pastor Kanyari’s daughter Sky was is that I admire that kid,” he said.
Chief went on to jokingly suggest that he would like to become Sky’s stepfather, explaining that in Tanzania such a figure is commonly referred to as a “baba wa kambo.”
The influencer said he would not mind taking on such a role because he genuinely likes the youngster and would be willing to support her whenever necessary.
“I would love to be her stepdad. ‘Baba wa kambo’ – that is what we call it in Tanzania. If she needs anything, I can buy it for her,” he said.
The social media personality emphasised that his admiration is based on the impression he has formed from watching Sky online.
According to him, the young girl comes across as smart and mature for her age.
Chief Godlove admitted that he does not know much about Sky personally, but maintained that he likes her character and the way she presents herself.
“Because I like the kid, and she is so smart. I don’t know much about her, but I really like her,” he added.
