Nurse Judy has said Gen Z and Gen Alpha could be more willing to place their parents in nursing homes because of their strong need for personal space.

On Monday, August 17, 2026, she said the younger generations are changing how people view living arrangements and family responsibilities.

Judy made the remarks while discussing the possibility that nursing homes will become more common in the future. She said younger people may not want their parents moving into their homes because they value having their own space and independence.

True, esp hii generation inakuja Gen Z and Gen Alpha will definitely not give a… ati sijui kuita mzazi akae kwake they love their personal space respected,” Nurse Judy said.

She explained that this could foster growth in nursing homes as more members of Gen Z and Gen Alpha become adults. According to Judy, their attitude towards personal space could influence how they choose to care for their parents.

“So yes, there is hope cz Gen Z and Gen Alpha will sure be the type to dump their parents in nursing homes,” Nurse Judy said.

Nurse Judy weighs in on changing family arrangements

Judy’s comments point to a possible change in how families handle care for older parents in the future. She suggested that younger generations may prefer arrangements where parents receive care in nursing homes rather than moving into their children’s homes.

She also linked this possibility to the strong value that Gen Z and Gen Alpha place on having personal space. Judy said this could make nursing homes a more acceptable option for families as these generations grow older.

Her remarks come amid wider discussions about the attitudes and choices of younger generations. Different public figures have also compared Gen Z with millennials while sharing their views on the two groups.

Media personality Andrew Kibe has previously criticised millennials while expressing more hope in Gen Z. He described millennials in harsh terms and said he viewed the younger generation more positively.

“Millennials are useless. Hakuna watu useless kama millennials. Gen Z unajua kuna hope,” Andrew Kibe said in a podcast on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Kibe explained his view while comparing the different generations and the roles they have played in the country. He said he had a very low opinion of millennials and described them as the hardest-hearted generation he had seen.
