Niko na bibi: George Ruto responds to marriage banter during visit to Teacher Cillah’s school
By Katemarthason Okudo, August 26, 2026President William Ruto’s son George Ruto has jokingly responded to growing marriage talk surrounding his playful exchanges with teacher and content creator Cillah, laughing while he said he’s already married, and that the online banter should not be taken seriously.
George made the remarks on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, during a visit to Westlands Primary School, where he addressed teachers and guests.
The comments came after his social media interactions with Cillah attracted attention, with the teacher joking about a possible relationship and even imagining what their wedding could look like.
George sets the record straight
During his speech at the school, George addressed the marriage jokes and appeared to dismiss speculation that the exchanges could lead to a relationship. He laughed before making it clear that he already has a wife.
“First of all, let me set the record straight. Mimi niko na bibi,” George said.
He added that the online exchanges had nevertheless shown how social media can quickly turn a simple interaction into a widely discussed topic.
“But it was good while it lasted; it was able to show how the world has become since we are all connected on our mobile devices and social media,” he added.
George had earlier been asked whether Cillah’s playful comments had convinced him to consider marriage. He explained that marriage was a serious and lifelong decision that could not be based on social media conversations.
“You know marriage is a lifelong agreement with someone, so you just can’t meet someone on social media and agree on social media. So, no, I think it’s just social media hype,” George said.
How the banter started
The exchanges between George and Cillah gained attention after the teacher repeatedly commented on his Instagram posts, complimenting his appearance and calling him handsome.
George later responded to one of her comments by asking her for her Teachers Service Commission (TSC) number.“Ebu TSC number niconfirm kitu,” George wrote.
Cillah took the response in a playful manner and joked that his interest in her TSC number could mean he wanted to know more about her. She later imagined a future with George, including him arriving in a G-Wagon and the two starting a school together.
The teacher also joked about their fictional wedding, saying guests would be so excited that the tents might not even need to be placed on the ground.
Cillah later said she had already picked a song for the imagined wedding and joked about changing her name to “Mrs George K Ruto”, before shortening it to “Mrs GK”.
George visits Cillah’s school
The social media exchanges eventually led to George visiting Westlands Primary School, where learners enjoyed an afternoon programme featuring dance performances, DJ music and a talent showcase.
He also interacted with pupils in their classrooms, moving from one desk to another as he learnt more about their school environment. Cillah thanked George for honouring his commitment to visit the school and supporting her work.
“I would want to thank him for backing me up. It means a lot. So thank you so much for coming and may you be so blessed,” Cillah said.
George also spoke about what he had learnt about Cillah beyond their online exchanges, noting that she supports learners with special needs. He said plans were underway to support the school with football and learning equipment.
The visit therefore offered a chance for the two to move their social media banter into a real-life school engagement, while George made it clear that the marriage talk remained just that, social media banter.
