Nairobi Birdman claps back after Mosiria tells him to return birds to Nairobi National Park

Viral internet sensation Rodgers Oloo Magudha, popularly known as the Nairobi Birdman, has hit back at Nairobi County Chief Officer for Customer Engagement Geoffrey Mosiria, after the county official urged him to surrender the birds he lives with to Nairobi National Park.

The response comes barely a day after Mosiria expressed concern over the Birdman’s close relationship with the wild birds, particularly after videos showed him sharing meals with them inside his house, which attracted widespread attention online.

Following the videos, Mosiria urged the Birdman to surrender the birds to Nairobi National Park, citing concerns over his well-being after a doctor explained the possible health risks associated with sharing food and utensils with wild birds.

However, in a TikTok video shared on Sunday, June 28, 2026, Birdman accused Mosiria of seeking attention, claiming the county official ignored him during some of the most difficult years of his life.

In an emotional video, the Birdman recalled the period when he lived on the streets of Nairobi, saying he repeatedly reached out to Mosiria for help but never received a response.

According to him, Mosiria served as the Nairobi County Executive Committee Member for Environment at the time.

“Mosiria, I remember you were the CEC for Environment in Nairobi County. I remember those days when I was living on the streets in Nairobi. I looked for your number, texted you and even called you, but you never bothered to respond,” he said.

The Birdman further claimed that he even recorded a video outside City Hall appealing to Mosiria to help mentor and groom him, but his pleas went unanswered.

“I was asking you to help me and you did not bother. I even did a video from City Hall asking you to come and groom me, but you snubbed that,” he claimed.

He accused the county official of only taking interest in him after his videos gained widespread attention online.

“Now that you heard the doctor speaking about what could go wrong with me eating with my birds, now you have come to clout-chase,” he said.

The Birdman went on to explain that living alongside birds is nothing new to him.

Describing himself as a scavenger, he revealed that long before he became an internet sensation, he survived on the streets where he often shared spaces, food and even harsh weather conditions with birds.

“I am a scavenger myself. I have been eating and living with birds, not only from these plates you see but also from the streets and dump sites,” he said.

He added that despite years of sleeping outdoors with the birds and being exposed to rain alongside them, he has never experienced serious health problems.

“I have slept outside with these birds many times, and we have been rained on, and I have never been sick,” he stated.

The Birdman further expressed disappointment that Mosiria never offered him opportunities when he was struggling to survive on the streets.

According to him, he even requested employment from the county official but was ignored.

“When I was living on the streets, I never heard you, Mosiria, asking me to come so that I could be empowered. I even asked you to employ me, but you snubbed me in public,” he claimed.

Reflecting on how life has changed, the Birdman said he never imagined that the same person who once ignored his pleas would later be looking for him.

“I remember pursuing you a lot, and I did not know that later you would be the one looking for me,” he said.

Rodgers Oloo Magudha became a well-known figure after spending 13 years homeless before rebuilding his life.

He has since gained national attention for his extraordinary bond with wild raptors, including black kites and hawks, which frequently perch on his shoulders and head as he moves around Nairobi, making him one of the city’s most recognisable urban personalities.
