Digital content creator and entrepreneur Moureen Ngigi has opened up about her humble beginnings, revealing that she started washing cars in Githunguri immediately after completing high school in a bid to earn her own money.

Speaking about her journey in a candid interview on Wensday, August 5,2026, Moureen said she has always believed in working hard and becoming financially independent rather than waiting for opportunities to come her way.

“My goal was to have money in my pocket, siwezi kaa bila pesa, so I started kuosha magari in Githunguri immediately after high school nikiwa 19,” Moureen revealed.

She admitted that the car-washing business was not easy, but she remained committed because it provided her with an income and taught her the value of hard work.

“It was a tough industry, lakini niliosha for sometimes,” she said.

Alafu nilianza kutoka Githunguri kuja Nairobi kufanya acting, zile tunapatana kwa uwanja Uhuru park as a group ata sijui penye tulikuwa tunatoana,” she added.

Running a fashion business

Reflecting on her journey, Moureen encouraged young people not to look down on small businesses, saying every successful entrepreneur starts somewhere.

“I would love to encourage young people to stop criticising small businesses,” she urged.

Kama uko na biashara ndogo wewe anza tuwache kuangalia na kusema huyu ako na sponser. That’s why they are thriving we all can thrive if we put our mind into it.”
