Nairobi County Chief Officer for Customer Engagement and Citizen Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has called on parents to take responsibility for their children and ensure they do not suffer because of disagreements between adults.

Mosiria shared the message on Monday, June 15, 2026, while speaking about a case involving a woman who had previously approached him seeking help. He explained that the woman wanted assistance in engaging a man she alleged was the father of her child, so that he could help support the child.

“Some time back, this lady approached me seeking help in engaging the man she alleges is the father of her child so that he could support the child,” Mosiria said.

He explained that the woman claimed the man abandoned both her and the child after the child was born. According to Mosiria, the woman also alleged that during her pregnancy, the man had asked her to terminate it, but she declined.

Mosiria said that by coincidence, he recently met both the woman and the man in town. He explained that the matter remains unresolved because the man denied being the child’s father.

“Today, by coincidence, I met both the lady and the man in town,” Mosiria said.

Parental responsibility comes first

Mosiria said the man maintained that the child was not his. However, he noted that the woman expressed her willingness to undergo a DNA test to determine paternity.

“The man maintained that the child is not his, while the lady stated that she is ready and willing to undergo a DNA test to establish paternity,” he explained.

He added that the man agreed to take responsibility and support the child if the DNA results prove that he is the biological father.

“The man also agreed that if the DNA results confirm that he is the biological father, he will take responsibility and support the child,” Mosiria said.

As the matter awaits the proper process, Mosiria urged adults not to allow children to suffer because of disputes involving parents. He stressed that the welfare of children should always come first.

“Every child deserves love, care, and support from both parents whenever possible,” Mosiria said.

He further called on parents to remain present in their children’s lives and fulfil their responsibilities.

“If you have brought a child into this world, please do not neglect your parental responsibilities. Be present, be supportive, and always put the best interests of the child first,” Mosiria said.
