Mbona hatujipendi: Mosiria calls out woman crossing Thika Road despite nearby footbridge
By Ascah Mwango, September 22, 2026Nairobi County Chief Officer for Customer Engagement Geoffrey Mosiria has criticised a woman who was seen crossing Thika Road instead of using a nearby footbridge, warning that the decision could put her life at risk.
In a post shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, Mosiria questioned why the woman would choose to cross the busy highway when a footbridge was available about 100 metres away.
“Mbona wakenya hatujipendi, why risk her life 100 meters from the footbridge? She will lose nothing by using the footbridge but she has a lot to lose when risking her life in a busy THIKA road superhighway,” Mosiria stated.
His remarks drew attention to the dangers pedestrians face when crossing major roads without using designated crossing points. Thika Road carries heavy traffic throughout the day, making attempts to weave between moving vehicles a potentially dangerous decision.
The county official has previously spoken out against pedestrians who ignore footbridges along Nairobi’s major roads. In April 2026, he criticised pedestrians crossing Mombasa Road despite the availability of a nearby footbridge.
“Iyo footbridge imewekewa nani?” (Who was the footbridge built for?).
In the same incident, Mosiria said the county would step up enforcement of traffic compliance along busy roads. He also called for pedestrians to use designated crossing points, noting that road safety requires responsibility from both pedestrians and motorists.
His interventions have placed pedestrian behaviour among the traffic-related concerns he has highlighted in Nairobi. Through public posts and direct engagement with road users, Mosiria has repeatedly urged residents to avoid actions that expose them to preventable accidents.
