Malcom Machaji raises concern over rising insecurity in Kenya
TikToker and content creator Arnold Malcom Machaji has raised concern over recent security incidents in Nairobi, following reports of a robbery at a Westlands restaurant and disruptions along Thika Road.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, July 5, 2026, Machaji said the country could face more insecurity if concerns raised by citizens are not acted on early enough.
His remarks came after CCTV footage emerged showing three armed men entering a restaurant in Westlands on Saturday night and robbing customers of mobile phones, wallets and other valuables.
Machaji also referred to the Friday, July 3, 2026, protests along Thika Road, where a group of people blocked parts of the highway near Pangani, causing major traffic delays.
“Kenya, we are heading into a difficult moment. If people can close Thika Road and block cars while police are just watching, then we need to ask ourselves where we are headed,” Machaji said.

Concerns after Westlands robbery
The content creator questioned the rise in reported cases of robbery and public disorder, saying people should be able to go about their daily activities without fear.
He referred to the Westlands incident, where armed robbers reportedly entered a restaurant while customers were having meals and talking with friends.
According to CCTV footage, the incident happened at about 10:35 pm on Saturday, July 4. The restaurant was busy, with customers seated at different tables as staff attended to them.
The footage showed three men walking into the establishment through the main entrance before spreading out across the dining area.

The suspects appeared to move in a coordinated manner as they took valuables from customers. As they left, one of the men, who was wearing a white jacket, was seen turning back and pointing what appeared to be a firearm inside the restaurant.
Machaji said such incidents should concern all Kenyans, regardless of their political views. Goons attack people because they believe nothing will happen to them,” he said.
Thika Road protests
His remarks also followed demonstrations that disrupted traffic along Thika Road on Friday, July 3, 2026, in the morning. The protests near Pangani were linked to a demolition exercise that reportedly left several families without homes.
Residents blocked parts of the road during the morning rush hour, leaving motorists stranded in traffic near the Pangani footbridge as police moved in to restore order.
Machaji said the public should speak up whenever they see problems in society instead of waiting until they are personally affected. “The day insecurity affects you, it will not care whether you support the government or not. You will face the problem alone,” he said.

Recent disruptions in Nairobi
The Thika Road incident came days after another disruption along Outer Ring Road, where suspected goons reportedly blocked sections near Kiamaiko Bridge and Kariobangi Roundabout. Witnesses said motorists and passengers were robbed while some vehicles were pelted with stones, forcing drivers to avoid the area.
Machaji urged authorities to address security concerns before they become more difficult to manage. “If you see something wrong happening somewhere, it should be addressed,” he concluded.
