KMPDU’s Miskellah raises alarm over Nairobi Birdman eating with wild birds
Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Secretary General Dennis Miskellah has raised concerns over a content creator, Rodgers Oloo Magudha, popularly known as Nairobi Birdman, urging the Ministry of Health to assess potential public health risks associated with his close interactions with wild birds.
In a post shared on X on Thursday, June 25, 2026, Miskellah called on the Ministry of Health to intervene after videos emerged showing Nairobi Birdman living and eating alongside various wild birds, including scavenger species.
“Dear MOH Kenya, there is this character in FB who lives with wild birds, including scavengers and eats with them from the same plate,” Miskellah wrote.
The doctor warned that while many Kenyans may find the videos entertaining, the situation could pose serious health risks if not properly addressed.
Disease risk concerns
According to Miskellah, close contact between humans and wild animals can increase the risk of zoonotic diseases, which are infections that can be transmitted from animals to people.
“While this looks funny, it won’t be funny when he contracts and spreads zoonotic diseases,” he said.

The KMPDU official urged public health officers to engage the content creator and educate him on the potential dangers associated with prolonged contact with wild birds.
“Kindly send public health officers to advise him accordingly because we are not ready to pay for his folly with our lives,” he added.
Birdman’s Growing Fame
Nairobi Birdman, whose real name is Rodgers Oloo Magudha, has gained a significant following on social media through videos showcasing his unusual bond with birds.

The content creator is often seen feeding, carrying and interacting with birds that freely roam around his home. Some of his videos show him sharing meals with the birds and allowing them to perch on his shoulders, head and dining table.
His story has attracted admiration from many Kenyans who view his work as a form of bird conservation and animal rescue.
