Kanyari vows to continue preaching if elected Kasarani MP

Founder and senior pastor of the Salvation Healing Ministry, Victor Kanyari, has maintained that he will continue preaching even if he is elected as the member of parliament (MP) for Kasarani in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a church service on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Kanyari dismissed claims that venturing into politics would mark the end of his ministry, insisting that he intends to balance both roles if voters hand him the parliamentary seat.
“Mtakuwa mnaubiriwa hapa mbele na mbunge,” Kanyari told congregants, suggesting that they would still receive his sermons even after he becomes an MP.
The preacher also expressed confidence in his political bid, saying a victory in Kasarani would surprise many Kenyans.
“Tukipita hii kiti ya Kasarani, watu watashtuka sana maana tutapita. Kenyans will be shocked; we are going to win this seat,” he added.

Kanyari to critics
Kanyari also addressed criticism from some Kenyans who have questioned his political ambitions, saying he has never sought public approval and is unfazed by those who claim they do not support him.
“‘Mimi sipendi pastor Kanyari,’ mtu akasema hivyo, na mimi nikauliza watu wa online, kwani mulianza kunipenda lini? Si Mimi niliacha munanichukia kwani mulianza kunipenda siku hizi? Mimi niliwacha sipendwi na kila mtu,” Kanyari said.
The televangelist said negative opinions about him are nothing new, adding that he has long accepted that not everyone will support him. Despite the criticism, he maintained that he remains focused on his ministry and his political ambitions.
“You are just repeating what I know,” he added.

Ministry and politics
Kanyari had previously announced plans to anoint 10 young preachers to help oversee his ministry as he pursues elective politics ahead of the 2027 General Election.
However, his latest remarks suggest he has no intention of stepping away from the pulpit entirely, insisting he will continue preaching even if elected Kasarani MP.
“Nataka ku-anoint vijana kumi ambao nitawaachia anointing yangu waendeleshe u pastor and continue preaching the gospel, because I’m joining politics,” Kanyari said.
Kasarani MP bid
Kanyari has repeatedly declared his intention to contest the Kasarani parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election, expressing confidence that he will secure victory despite scepticism from some members of the public.
