Pastor Kanyari’s aide Nyawira wa Kamotho announces bid for Gatongora MCA seat in 2027

Pastor Victor Kanyari’s close church aide, Nyawira wa Kamotho, has announced her intention to vie for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat for Gatongora Ward in Ruiru Constituency in the 2027 General Election.

Nyawira, who is from the famous Wakamotho family, made the announcement on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, just days after making a social media comeback with a message centred on prayer, her supporters and her plans to support vulnerable families.

Nyawira said she had spent two days in prayer, using the period to pray for everyone who supports her ministry and asking God to open doors for them.

“I have been to prayers for two days. I prayed for everyone who supports my ministry. May God open doors for you. Let’s meet live tomorrow as we support vulnerable families,” Nyawira wrote.

She also announced plans to meet her followers in a live session the following day, saying the engagement would also be used to support vulnerable families.

At the same time, she identified herself as an MCA aspirant for Gatongora Ward in Ruiru Constituency and asked to be referred to as Mheshimiwa Nyawira.

“MCA Gatongora Ward. Ruiru Constituency. Mheshimiwa Nyawira,” she wrote.

Nyawira accompanied the message with a video showing her mobilising youths inside Kanyari’s church, further placing her political announcement against the backdrop of the ministry where she has built a close association with the preacher.

Kawira’s MCA bid

TikTok influencer Anne Kawira, who is also Kanyari’s friend, announced her intention to vie for the Athiru Gaiti Ward MCA seat on February 24, 2026.

At the time, she unveiled an eight-point manifesto centred on youth empowerment, support for women and vulnerable groups, education, healthcare, security, accountability, environmental sustainability and infrastructure development.

On March 14, 2026, she took her political ambitions directly to residents during a second burial in Meru, where she introduced herself to mourners and said she was seeking the MCA seat in the 2027 General Election.

She also spoke about her experience working in the Gulf after Form Four and pledged to address concerns including poor roads and challenges facing children if elected.

Kawira has also maintained that politics would not force her to abandon her career as a TikTok creator. Speaking during a live interview on March 1, 2026, she cited Mumias East MP Peter Salasya as an example of a politician who remains active on social media while serving as an elected leader.

“Tag for me any tattoo remover. It’s time, MCA Athiru Gaiti Ward 2027,” she wrote, reaffirming her political ambitions.

Her political entry came as other entertainment and church-linked personalities also began testing the political waters ahead of the 2027 elections.

Among them was gospel singer Justina Syokau, who announced her intention to vie for the Machakos County Woman Representative seat in January 2025, saying she wanted to build on her work supporting the girl child and other vulnerable members of society.
