Kambua reveals why she was not ready for love when she met her husband

Gospel singer Kambua has shared why she was not ready to get into another relationship when she first met her husband.
Talking to Reverend Kathy Kauna on Saturday, July 18, 2026, she explained that she had just come from a relationship that did not work out and had decided she wanted nothing to do with dating at the time.
Despite that, her husband was clear about what he wanted from the beginning.
Kambua said the difference between them stood out from the moment they met. She explained that while her husband was sure about pursuing a relationship, she was still dealing with the disappointment of her previous experience and was not looking for love.
“When I met Jackson, he was very sure of what he wanted from the get-go. Which was very different from me because I had come from a relationship that…hatukufika mahali tulikua tunaenda. So meeting Jackson was very different,” Kambua said.
She went on to explain that before they met in person, her husband had been sending her messages on Facebook. However, she ignored them because she had already decided she did not want to get into another relationship.
Meeting after months of messages
“I had come out of that relationship because I just didn’t want to. I didn’t want anything to do with relationships, so he kept on messaging, and I left them on read. Then one day he messaged me, and I responded, and she took that as…she has responded,” Kambua explained.
After she finally replied, the two agreed to meet for coffee at Westgate. Kambua recalled that their first date did not go as planned because her husband was delayed by heavy traffic before arriving at the meeting.
“We were meant to meet at Westgate, and he was late; first of all, he was late,” Kambua said.
She explained that the delay was caused by traffic, making the meeting much shorter than expected. According to Kambua, they only had a brief time together before he had to leave.
“We set our coffee date, and he got stuck in the worst traffic. He comes to meet me, and less than three minutes after, he has to leave. And I was just like…” Kambua said.
Although she was not ready for another relationship when they first met, Kambua’s story shows that their first meeting happened after months of ignored messages and a coffee date that was cut short because of traffic.
