It’s going to be messy: Majembe accepts Mbavu Destroyer’s rematch boxing challenge
By Valerian Khakayi, July 21, 2026Fast-rising boxer Portifas Odipo, better known as Majembe, has reignited his rivalry with Ferdinand Omondi, alias Mbavu Destroyer, after accepting a fresh boxing challenge, setting the stage for what promises to be another explosive showdown.
Taking to social media on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Majembe sent a fiery warning to his long-time rival, saying he was ready to settle the score once again in the ring.
“Mbavuuu mbavuuu mbavuuuu, nimekuita mara ngapiii??? You messed with the wrong person, and you are going to pay back. Tupatane date 15 Dubai Complex Nyamasaria; it’s going to be messy,” Majembe said.
His remarks came shortly after Mbavu Destroyer declared that he was ready for a rematch, insisting that the outcome of their previous encounter did not reflect his true abilities.
“Haukushinda game in a free and fair fight, nimerudi ground tupatane Kisumu na itakuwa mbaya,” Mbavu said.
Rematch
The two have publicly exchanged words and hinted at meeting on the date 15 at Dubai Complex in Nyamasaria.
Even so, the online exchanges have already built anticipation, with supporters of both camps predicting another entertaining clash.
Should the rematch happen, it will be an opportunity for Majembe to prove that his first victory was no fluke, while Mbavu Destroyer will be looking for redemption and a chance to even the score.
Vurugu Night Fight
The rivalry between the two entertainers dates back to April 4, 2026, when they squared off during the inaugural Vurugu Boxing Challenge held at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi.
The bout attracted significant attention online and inside the arena, with both fighters entertaining fans through their intense rivalry before and during the match.
On that night, Majembe was declared the winner by unanimous decision after scoring more points from the three judges against his much-hyped rival, Mbavu Destroyer.
The bout, initially scheduled for ten rounds, lasted only four rounds and was called off after Mbavu Destroyer could not continue due to what appeared to be a blow below the belt.
Oga Obinna, the Vurugu Match organiser, and Reuben Ndolo, the boxing official, handed over the winner’s belt to the eventual winner.
The bout began with Majembe aggressively pursuing Mbavu Destroyer in his corner.
