‘I thought I was the last-born’ – Mosiria discovers he is one of 22 children
Nairobi County’s Chief Officer for Customer Engagement and Citizen Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has shared a surprising family revelation that he discovered during the burial of his nephew, the late George Makori, a respected police officer.
In a statement shared on his official social media accounts on Sunday, June 8, 2026, Mosiria revealed that for most of his life, he believed he was the 21st and last-born child in his family.

However, he says events at the burial led to an unexpected discovery that changed what he knew about his family background.
According to Mosiria, his father disclosed to him during the funeral that the family actually consists of 22 children, 12 boys and 10 girls.
“Yesterday, during the burial of my nephew, the famous George Makori, a respected police officer, I learnt something that surprised me greatly,” Mosiria revealed.
“For all my life, I believed I was the 21st and last-born child in our family. However, during the burial, my father revealed that we are actually 22 children: 12 boys and 10 girls.”
Unknown sibling
The revelation did not end there. Mosiria said one of his brothers informed him that their eldest sister lives in the United States, a fact he had never known before.
“One of my brothers informed me that our eldest sister lives in the USA, a fact I had never known before,” he added.
The Nairobi County official expressed his amazement at learning new details about his family despite being an adult and having spent his entire life believing he knew the exact size of his family.
In addition, Mosiria further posed a question to his followers, asking whether they truly know the full extent of their own families.
“Nyinyi kwenyu mnajua mko wangapi kabisa?” he added.
This discovery also highlighted how some siblings in large families can grow up without knowing one another, especially when they live in different countries or have limited contact over the years.
In Mosiria’s case, he was surprised to learn about the existence of an elder sister living in the United States, showing that family connections can sometimes remain unknown even among close relatives.
The revelation underscored the complex dynamics that can exist in large families, where some siblings may spend years without meeting or knowing about each other’s whereabouts.
