In a heartfelt post shared on her social media pages on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the singer reflected on the time they spent together, saying the experience reminded her of the power of love, kindness and human connection.
Her message came after the children visited the beach for the first time, with Shakira revealing that they spent several days together alongside family and friends.

The Hips Don’t Lie singer said the days they spent together were filled with joy and meaningful moments that left a lasting impression on everyone around them.
According to Shakira, saying goodbye to the children was one of the hardest parts of the experience because of the love they freely shared with those around them.
“These past few days have been filled with inexplicable love. I took you to the beach for the first time in your lives, and we spent time together every day along with family and friends,” Shakira said.
She added that the children’s warmth and kindness transformed every place they visited. “It was too hard to say goodbye to you because you know how to give and receive love in a way that I have never seen before. You not only made our days brighter but also showed us the miracle that happens when we let our guards down and open our hearts,” she added.
‘I love you like my own’
Shakira said the experience reminded her that love goes beyond nationality, language or culture.
Although the children come from a different country and background, she said they had especially become part of her family. “You proved to us that we can love each other no matter where we come from, regardless of what we have or lack,” Shakira said.
“Though you are from another continent, live in a different culture and speak another language, now I love you like you are children of my own. This time with you has made me realise once again that every child in the world should be treated and loved like our own,” she added.
The Colombian superstar concluded her message by encouraging people to care for children everywhere. “Children come into this world through their mothers and fathers, but they are all our responsibility and belong to all of us,” Shakira said.
A friendship that began at the World Cup
Shakira’s bond with the Ghetto Kids first captured global attention during the FIFA World Cup, where the Ugandan dance group joined her in performances and promotional activities surrounding the tournament.
