‘I dropped alcohol to lock in’ – Malu reflects on sobriety, growth, and financial discipline

Content creator Malu has opened up about her current lifestyle, saying she has learned important life lessons from balancing a busy work schedule and personal growth.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday, June 14, 2026, she noted that working four times a week has not been easy, especially while adjusting to a sober lifestyle, but says the experience has helped her grow both financially and personally.
Work routine and personal discipline
In her message, Malu spoke about adjusting to a demanding work schedule while also trying to maintain balance in her personal life. She noted that working several days a week has not been easy, but it has played a role in shaping her discipline and financial awareness.
“Working 4 times a week is definitely not a joke, but I have learnt a lot, especially from an environment where you’re trying to have fun being sober, it’s bad,” she said.

She also touched on her decision to step away from alcohol, saying it was part of her effort to become more responsible with her money and focus on long-term stability. “And to everyone supportive, thank you. I don’t take it for granted. I dropped alcohol to lock in and not to waste money,” she stated.
She added that she is slowly working towards the goals she set for herself, especially those tied to healing and financial growth. “I’m proud we’re almost getting there. Last year, I said on my 25th birthday would be a point of healing, achieving goals, and becoming better financially,” she added.

A difficult year of setbacks
Malu’s reflections also revisited 2025, a year she says tested her in multiple ways. She described it as a period filled with emotional and financial challenges that forced her to rethink many aspects of her life.
She recalled moments of struggle where she had to rebuild herself repeatedly after different disappointments, including financial losses and plans that did not go as expected. “I cried. I prayed. I lost. I won. I learned. I failed,” she wrote, summing up the emotional weight of the year.
During that period, she admitted that she turned to alcohol at times as a way of coping, though it did not change the reality of what she was facing. She also experienced financial setbacks, including taking loans, losing money, and missing out on a visa plan she had been working towards.
Dealing with shame and silence
At her lowest moments, Malu says she withdrew from public attention, struggling with feelings of shame over what she viewed as failure. However, she now sees that period differently. “I went silent because I was ashamed of failing; little did I know I was actually learning,” she shared.

She explained that the silence was not a sign of giving up, but rather a difficult phase of reflection and learning.
Support system and moving forward
Despite the challenges, Malu acknowledged the role of her close circle in helping her through the difficult period. She credited her family and friends for standing by her when things were not going well, offering encouragement when she needed it most.
As she continues rebuilding, Malu says she is focused on progress and staying committed to her goals of healing, growth, and financial stability, taking one step at a time.
