I don’t believe in God: Tileh reveals why he left religion to become an atheist

Kenyan choreographer and fitness enthusiast David Otieno, widely known as Tileh Pacbro, has opened up about his spiritual beliefs, revealing that he no longer identifies with any religion and considers himself an atheist after years of questioning Christianity.
Speaking during an interview with media personality Tony Mwirigi, Tileh said he does not believe in God and instead chooses to live by the principle of being a good human being.
“I am not religious in any way; I am an atheist. I do not believe in God; I believe in the art of being a good human,” Tileh said.
When asked who he believes created him if he does not believe in God, Tileh gave a straightforward response.
“I was born by my parents, and that is enough for me,” he responded.

Why he left religion
The choreographer explained that his journey away from religion began while he was still living in a children’s home, where he was surrounded by Christians. According to him, he constantly asked questions about faith but felt the answers he received did not satisfy his curiosity.
“I grew with all the critical questions that were never answered, and then as you grow up, you are free to make a decision for me. I weighed all the options and just realised religion to me does not make sense,” Tileh explained.
Tileh said he was about 15 years old when he decided that religion no longer aligned with his personal beliefs.
“I was around 15 years old when I was still in the children’s home, surrounded by Christians. Niile unangalia, then you ask yourself questions. You ask everyone questions, the answers do not satisfy you, and then I decide because it did not align with me,” he added.
He noted that his decision was not influenced by rebellion or resentment towards religion but by a desire to find answers that made sense to him.

Life as an atheist
Tileh also revealed that abandoning religion changed the way he approaches life and personal responsibility. Instead of praying for success, he said he now focuses on taking action and accepting the outcomes of his efforts.
“I stopped praying for things and started working for them; that changed my life a lot because you understand the reality there is nothing else behind it, it is just your work, you have to put in the work,” he stated.
According to Tileh, embracing that mindset has made him more accountable for both his achievements and failures.
“So if I fail, I take the blame,” Tileh stated.
