‘Huyo ni millionaire’: Streamer Tonka reacts after spotting George Ruto’s 98 nganya in Rongai

Tonka was in the cab having a conversation with the driver when they spotted the customised matatu on the road, immediately turning their attention to the vehicle and the story behind the 98 brand.
The streamer appeared impressed by the condition of the nganya, particularly its fresh appearance, as he wondered which vehicle it was and whether it belonged to George Ruto.
“Wow, which nganya is this which is called 98? It looks so new. You mean it belongs to George Ruto, and it plies the Rongai route?” Tonka said during his irl stream on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
The sighting prompted Tonka to start wondering about the size of George’s matatu fleet, with the conversation between him and the cab driver shifting to the number of nganyas the First Son could have under the 98 brand.
“I wonder how many nganyas he has. You mean he has around 30 nganyas?” Tonka said.
The streamer then linked the size of the alleged fleet to the amount of money that could be involved in the business, suggesting that owning such a large number of matatus would make George a millionaire.
“Then that means he is a millionaire,” Tonka said.
His curiosity then shifted from George’s wealth to the business itself, with Tonka questioning whether the matatu industry is as profitable as many people assume.
“I wonder whether nganyas are very profitable,” he said.
Tonka also brought the conversation closer to ordinary investment decisions, asking whether someone looking to put money into the transport sector would be better off investing in matatus or the ride-hailing business.
“Would you advise someone to invest in the matatu industry or invest in the Uber business?” he asked.
The conversation ended with Tonka appearing fascinated by the business possibilities behind the customised nganya they had encountered, as the chance sighting turned into a wider discussion about matatu ownership, profitability and investment.
98 Sacco
The nganya Tonka spotted is part of George Ruto’s 98 Sacco, a matatu operation that has attracted attention because of the distinctive designs and entertainment features associated with its vehicles.
George recently commissioned a new fleet of matatus under the 98 brand, unveiling the vehicles after they underwent extensive modifications at a garage.
George attended the ceremony alongside the crew that would operate the vehicles, including drivers and conductors who were dressed in white as they gathered around the newly completed fleet.
The commissioning also featured a religious ceremony, with a pastor praying over the vehicles and their crews before the matatus left the garage.
The pastor subsequently sprinkled holy water over the vehicles as George and members of the crew watched.
Once the ceremony was completed, the newly commissioned matatus slowly left the garage before forming a convoy, with their music systems turned on and customised lights flashing as they made their way onto the road.
The latest fleet adds to George’s growing presence in Nairobi’s matatu industry through the 98 brand, which has become associated with several highly customised nganyas.
His fleet has previously included vehicles such as Raptor, Money Fest, Matrix, Mood and Baba Yaga, which have attracted attention within Nairobi’s vibrant nganya scene.
