Gospel singer Liz Wangui announces death of her mother
By Steve Ireri, June 28, 2026Gospel singer Liz Wangui Muchiri has announced the heartbreaking death of her mother, leaving friends, fellow ministers and fans sending messages of comfort as she mourns the painful loss.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, June 28, 2026, the singer admitted she was still struggling to come to terms with her mother’s passing.
Liz revealed that she could not even bring herself to write any condolence message, saying she was still waiting to receive her mother’s body at Montezuma Funeral Home because the loss felt too unreal.
“Mum, I won’t type Rest in Peace. Nangojea mwili wako hapa Montezuma Funeral Home juu siamini. Aje sasa,” she wrote.

Her emotional words quickly drew an outpouring of support from Kenyans, friends and fellow church leaders, many of whom offered prayers and encouraged her to remain strong during the difficult period.
Among the first to comfort the grieving singer was Reverend Martha David of Peniel Apostles Church, Kiserian.
In her condolence message, the church leader urged Liz to find peace in knowing she had done everything possible for her mother while she was still alive.
“It is with heavy hearts that we come to terms with the passing of the mother of our dear daughter Lizz Wangui Muchiri. In moments like these, the only word that truly speaks to your hearts is peace. May God’s peace comfort the family. You did your best for Mum. You honoured her with love while she was still alive. Take comfort in that. May her soul rest in eternal peace. Together with the Peniel family, we are praying for you,” Reverend Martha David wrote.
Popular businesswoman Damaris Muriithi, widely known as Dama Wa Mobile Spares, also joined thousands of Kenyans in comforting the gospel singer.
Sending her condolences, Dama reminded Liz that she had fulfilled her responsibilities as a daughter and that the rest was in God’s hands.
“Hugs, Madam P.A. Lizz Wangui Muchiri for the loss of your lovely mum. You did your part; God did His will. May our mum rest in peace,” she wrote.
Bishop David Njoroge of Peniel Apostles Church, Kiserian, also expressed shock over the news, describing the death as a painful loss for both Liz and the church family.
“It is with great shock and deep sorrow that we learned this morning of the sudden passing of the mother of our beloved daughter, Lizz Wangui Muchiri. Lizz, together with your entire family, please accept our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. We pray that the Lord will surround you with His peace, comfort and strength as you mourn this great loss. May God’s healing presence sustain your hearts, and may He grants you the grace to navigate these painful moments. Our prayers are with you, and we stand with you in love and support. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit’ (Psalm 34:18). May the soul of your dear mother rest in eternal peace, and may the Lord comfort the entire family. Amen,” Bishop David Njoroge wrote.
