George Ruto reveals secret that kept him from giving up during difficult moments

President William Ruto’s son, George, has opened up about the personal challenges he has faced and the mindset that has helped him push through difficult moments in life.

Speaking in an interview shared by Kenyan interviewer Young Millionaire Talks on TikTok on Saturday, June 13, 2026, George revealed that there were moments when he questioned his direction and purpose, describing periods of self-doubt that made him reflect deeply on his path and ambitions.

He noted that such moments are common in any journey of growth, especially when dealing with pressure and expectations from the public.

“90 per cent of the time you start asking yourself why I am doing this, what brought me here,” he said.

He explained that despite these challenges, what has consistently kept him going is the belief in gradual progress and consistency. According to him, success is not achieved through sudden breakthroughs but through small, steady steps taken every day, which eventually add up to meaningful results.

“But I was going to tell you, 1 per cent every single day, and you will finally get there,” he said.

Reflecting on his family background, George spoke about his father, President William Ruto, saying he views him more personally as a father rather than just a national leader.

He added that their journey reflects a story of progress from humble beginnings to success, often described as grass to grace.

George explained that since his early years, he has observed his father’s strong work ethic, saying that he has worked every day of his life with consistency and determination. He credited this continuous effort and step-by-step progress as a key influence in shaping his own understanding of success.

“Again, 1 per cent every single day, you will eventually get there. No risk, no story. You see him as the president, but I see him as my father. We came from grass to grace. That’s what it is,” he added.

He also referenced the “1 per cent rule,” which he associated with a book by Thomas Baker, explaining that it encourages making small incremental improvements every day in order to reach a final goal.

According to him, this philosophy has played a major role in how he views personal growth and achievement.

George maintained that applying this mindset of steady progress, discipline, and consistency has helped him navigate moments of doubt and continue pushing forward despite challenges.

“Since I was born in 1998, this guy has worked every day of his life, and I think that continuous step-by-step process and doing 1 per cent every day. I always quote the 1 per cent rule. It is a book by Thomas Baker, and it says to do small incremental steps every day that will get you to your final goal. He came from grass to grace,” he said.
