Nairobi County’s Chief Officer for Customer Engagement and Citizen Service, Geoffrey Mosiria has shared the emotional story of how he helped reunite a man known as DJ Snatcher with his family after he had spent four years away from home.

In a video shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, August 20, 2026, Mosiria said he found the former DJ sleeping by the roadside near Nyayo Stadium Roundabout while urging pedestrians to use the footbridge.

Mosiria said he became concerned about the man’s situation and decided to speak to him. Bystanders later told him that the man had once been a popular DJ before his life changed.

How Mosiria found DJ Snatcher

According to Mosiria, DJ Snatcher had disappeared from Kiambu four years ago, leaving his family searching for him. His mother had reportedly looked for him in different places, including mortuaries, as she tried to establish what had happened to her son.

After meeting him by the roadside, Mosiria shared his story on social media and asked Kenyans to help identify his family. However, the post attracted criticism from some social media users who accused him of seeking publicity.

Mosiria said some people questioned his decision to share the video because DJ Snatcher appeared violent in the footage. He maintained that his intention was not to gain attention but to help the man reconnect with his family and access the support he needed.

Emotional family reunion

Mosiria said his efforts eventually paid off after the video reached DJ Snatcher’s mother. The family contacted him, and they were able to trace the man and arrange a reunion after four years apart.

He described the meeting as an emotional moment for the family, with DJ Snatcher’s mother breaking down after finally seeing her son again. The mother also shared details of the life her son had before he disappeared.

According to Mosiria, she said DJ Snatcher was once doing well and had a car, a farm, a wife and children before mental health challenges changed his life.

DJ Snatcher taken for treatment

After the reunion, Mosiria said the family and those helping him managed to convince DJ Snatcher to accept professional support. He was subsequently taken to Mathari Mental Hospital, where he is expected to receive care for his mental health challenges.

Mosiria said the experience should encourage people to look beyond the circumstances of those living on the streets instead of judging them. “This story reminds us that behind every person living on the streets, there is a story. Mental health challenges can affect anyone,” Mosiria said.

He urged members of the public to show compassion towards people experiencing mental health difficulties, saying that support can help reconnect families and give people another chance.
