Fulfill what your son told you – Stoopid boy’s father makes emotional plea to artiste’s mother
By Dan Kauna, September 2, 2026The burial row surrounding late gengetone artiste Edgar, popularly known as Stoopid Boy, has taken a fresh twist after his father claimed that his mother initially agreed to his request to be buried in Siaya before changing her mind.
Speaking in a YouTube interview on September 1, 2026, the artiste’s father, George William Ochieng Awili, made a direct plea to the mother, asking her to honour what their late son communicated to her before his death in August 2026.
According to Ochieng, the late rapper had repeatedly made his intentions clear regarding where he wanted to be laid to rest. He urged the mother to honour those words..
“Mama Ian, we spoke with her on phone and she said Stoopid used to tell her he wants to be buried in Siaya. So please, Mama Stoopid, fulfill what your son told you,” Ochieng stated.
Questioning the U-turn
The standoff between the parents comes after conflicting opinions emerged on where the hitmaker should be laid to rest.
While Ochieng maintains that his son repeatedly asked to be buried at his paternal home in Alego, Siaya, another section of the family prefers Nyandarua, where his mother is based.
According to the father, both parents were initially aligned on the matter, but the mother later backtracked, triggering the current standoff.
The musician’s uncle, Eric Odhiambo, directly questioned her shift in position, asking what prompted the change of heart after she previously acknowledged the rapper’s wishes.
“Kama alisema Stoopid Boy alimwongelesha akamwambia, time yake ikifika, yeye aende apumzishwe Siaya, the question I would ask her now is, what made her change her mind?” Odhiambo posed.
Freezing funds to seek consensus
The impasse recently forced the family to suspend public Paybill contributions towards funeral expenses.
Ochieng explained that they froze the financial drive to prevent public misunderstandings and stop claims that the family was chasing money rather than giving the artiste a dignified send-off.
Odhiambo echoed these sentiments, noting that financial drives can only resume after both sides of the family unite and reach a consensus.
For Ochieng, the primary focus remains laying his son to rest in Alego, Siaya, in line with what he insists was the artiste’s ultimate wish.
