Stoopid Boy’s family halts paybill contributions over burial dispute

The family of Kenyan musician Edgar, widely known as Stoopid Boy, has halted Paybill contributions towards his send-off, with discussions ongoing over his burial arrangements.
Speaking about the decision, Stoopid Boy’s father, George William Ochieng Awili, said there was currently no active paybill, explaining that the family had stopped the contributions because of unresolved issues.
“There is nothing like a paybill; we have stopped because there are some issues. Watu wanafikiria ni kama tuko after pesa sana, but what I can tell Kenyans, what I need most is the body of my son to be in Alego Siaya,” Stoopid Boy’s father said.
His remarks come amid a dispute over where the musician should be laid to rest, with his father insisting that his son’s body should be taken to Alego, Siaya.
Agreement before resuming contributions
Stoopid Boy’s uncle Eric Odhiambo said the immediate priority was to bring both sides of the family together and agree on the burial arrangements before deciding how the Paybill contributions would be handled.
“Unajua kitu ya kwanza inafaifanyike, unajua mama Edgar ako mbali huko na baba yake ako huku, so what we have to do ni tuangalie vile tunaweza kuja pamoja the two families kwanza tukisha ongea sisi wote ndio tuangalie vile hiyo paybill inaweza ongelelewa kama sisi wote tuko pamoja,” Stoopid boy’s uncle said.
The uncle’s remarks suggest that the family wants to resolve the disagreement between the two sides before reopening discussions on financial contributions towards Stoopid Boy’s send-off.
Burial dispute
The burial dispute centres on whether the musician should be taken to his father’s home in Siaya, as he is said to have wished, or be laid to rest in Nyandarua, where his mother is based.
A friend of the family, Moses, previously said Stoopid Boy had expressed his desire to be buried at his father’s home in Siaya. However, he noted that a section of the family was pushing for the burial to take place in Nyandarua.
Moses said he had spoken to Stoopid Boy’s maternal uncle at a police station on Friday, August 28, 2026, where the uncle had gone to obtain a police abstract before proceeding to the mortuary.
The disagreement has since left the two sides of the family needing to reach an agreement on the final resting place before burial arrangements can proceed.
For his father, however, the priority remains fulfilling his son’s wish to have his body taken to Alego, Siaya.
