Eddie Butita and Rapcha the Sayantist trade jabs as beef brews

The genesis of their apparent beef is not yet clear, although their exchange has touched on their respective careers, political associations and views on government.
The drama began on Thursday, September 24, 2026, after Rapcha appeared to take a swipe at Butita by sharing his photo alongside a subtle jab while commenting on different types of content creators.
“Some are in the business of selling content. Others are in the business of selling content creators,” Rapcha the Sayantist wrote on X, alongside other unprintable remarks, appearing to imply that the comedian is a sellout.
Butita responded by questioning Rapcha’s decision to engage him publicly.
“Lakini Rapcha nikiwa class 1 ulikua msanii vihoja mahakamani, sahii unabeef na mimi kwa podcast ndio ukue relevant? Si utulie tu kama wazee wenzako ufuge ata mbuzi inaweza kusaidia,” Butita responded.
Rapcha hit back, telling Butita to respect his family.
“Ndugu @eddiebutita toka kwa Ruto, wewe ni mtu mzima. Heshimu familia,” Rapcha replied, alongside other words that were not suitable for publication.
Butita then questioned whether Rapcha would want his children to see some of his online posts.
“Watoto wako wakijua vitu unaandika huku online bado watasema we look up to our dad?” Butita responded.
Rapcha brings politics into exchange
Rapcha later appeared to widen the argument by referencing Butita’s association with the government and his own history in the entertainment industry.
“Ndugu @eddiebutita unaropokwa KBC na unasahau kuwakumbusha. I’m the only comedian who refused to go to the stadium and entertain Moi during holidays. Kukosa kujua history ndio inafanya Ruto anakutumia, I’m a soldier from day 1,” Rapcha added.
Butita responded with a question about KBC’s ownership.
“Kwani KBC haikua ya serikali,” Butita said.
Butita vs Rapcha
The exchange comes amid wider debate over the political positions and public associations of Kenyan entertainers.
Rapcha has previously been outspoken on political issues, while Butita has recently been seen associating with figures linked to the current administration, including President William Ruto. Butita has also recently faced criticism over content highlighting government development projects.
These differences could point to a political undertone in the latest exchange, although neither Butita nor Rapcha has explicitly stated that their online confrontation is politically motivated.
For now, the two entertainers appear to have turned their disagreement into a public back-and-forth, with neither side showing signs of backing down.
