DJ Krowbar shares what he misses most about his late wife
By Paulette Mboga, September 18, 2026Award-winning gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, popularly known as DJ Krowbar, has shared what he misses most about his late wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, as he reflected on the role she played in his life and career.
The gospel DJ said Joyce supported him in his journey and was part of the moments that shaped him into the DJ he became.
Krowbar said he still remembers having his wife around while he played music. He explained that Joyce would sit and record him as he played, creating memories that he now holds close to his heart.
“The DJ I became, my wife played a huge role in the DJ I became. I love playing, and playing does good things to me. And sometimes I just miss her sitting there. And recording me as I am playing,” DJ Krowbar said on Friday, September 18, 2026.
Memories he holds close
Krowbar also remembered his late wife’s funny dancing, saying that he misses those moments. He said the memories give him something to hold on to as he continues to remember their life together.
“And she was not a good dancer…I miss those funny dances. I like it when I have good memories of her,” DJ Krowbar said.
His latest reflection comes after he marked what would have been their 17th wedding anniversary. On Thursday, September 3, 2026, Krowbar shared photos from the couple’s last date together, which happened around the same time the previous year.
The DJ recalled that Joyce had recently been discharged from hospital after undergoing a transplant procedure. He said she was still recovering at the time, with the effects of the treatment visible on her face.
“These images were taken last year on a day like today. My wife had just been discharged from her transplant procedure a few weeks before, and you can notice she is a bit swollen in her face,” he wrote.
Krowbar said the couple spent their anniversary together despite Joyce’s condition at the time. They could not visit public places because her immunity was still low, meaning they had to mark the occasion privately.
“It was our anniversary, and we were not allowed to go to any public spaces because her immunity was low,” Krowbar explained.
The DJ’s memories show the different ways Joyce was part of his life, from supporting his career to sharing simple moments with him. He said remembering such moments helps him focus on the good memories they created together.
