Diamond Platnumz’s mother shows off new boyfriend after split from Uncle Shamte

Mama Dangote, the mother of Bongo superstar Diamond Platnumz, appeared to have found love again after introducing a new man during her lavish 59th birthday celebration in Dar es Salaam.

The surprise moment happened during the star-studded celebration on Sunday, July 12, 2026, when Tanzanian singer Ommy Dimpoz invited the man on stage and introduced him as someone who is now special in Mama Dangote’s life.

The reveal comes months after Mama Dangote’s highly publicised split from long-time partner Uncle Shamte, whose relationship with the mother of the Wasafi boss had attracted significant attention from fans across East Africa.

Boyfriend introduced

During the celebration, Ommy Dimpoz introduced the man as Chel Fundikila, revealing that he lives in the United Kingdom.

“Namesema, uncle wangu ni uncle wangu. Anaitwa Chel Fundikila. Anaishi UK. Lakini kwa bahati nzuri sasa hivi, ndiyo roho ya mama,” Ommy told guests.

He went on to joke that he and Diamond Platnumz had accepted the new relationship, saying they had already discussed the matter as a family.

“Mimi sasa hivi na Diamond tumeshama kwenye suala la tukikua makazi,” Ommy said, drawing cheers from the crowd.

Ommy Dimpoz then encouraged Mama Dangote to embrace Chel Fundikila, prompting loud celebrations from those in attendance.

“Mama, hebu mkumbatie basi uncle. Mkaamane. Mama leo ni mtoto,” he said.

Mama Dangote smiled warmly as she watched Diamond Platnumz watch the moment unfold during the celebration.

The moment came during a wider celebration of Mama Dangote’s life, with Diamond Platnumz also showering his mother with luxury gifts as he celebrated the woman he credits for supporting him throughout his journey.

Birthday surprise

Diamond surprised Mama Dangote with an extravagant collection of gifts, including a Rolex watch valued at 160 million Tanzanian shillings, estimated at about Ksh7.8 million.

Apart from the luxury watch, Diamond revealed that he had bought his mother a gold jewellery set and several gold bangles because he knows how much she enjoys wearing them.

“I have also brought her another gift, which is bangles for her hands, because I know she loves to wear bangles so much. That’s why I have brought them for her also. They are also golden. I bought them for her in Dubai,” Diamond said.

He later unveiled the Rolex watch, describing it as a special piece crafted from white rose gold and set with diamonds.

“I have also brought her a Rolex watch, and this watch is very expensive. It’s worth 160 million. The watch is made of white rose gold and diamonds,” he said.
