Derrick Omollo: Body of Juja TikToker who died after quarry fall leaves Nairobi for Kisii ahead of burial
By Steve Ireri, September 17, 2026The body of Juja TikToker Derrick Omollo has left Nairobi for Kisii, where his family will lay him to rest on Friday, September 18, 2026, following his tragic death after he fell into a quarry while fleeing attackers.
Family members and friends gathered at General Kago Funeral Home on Thursday morning, September 17, to pray, view his body and prepare for the journey to Kisii, where relatives and friends are expected to assemble ahead of the burial.
A video shared on TikTok by one of Omollo’s friends captured the sombre scenes at the mortuary, showing family members and friends waiting quietly in the viewing area as they prepared to bid farewell to the young content creator.
The mood at the funeral home remained sombre, with some of Omollo’s relatives seen struggling to contain their emotions as they came to terms with the reality that the young TikToker was being taken away for burial.
After the prayers and body viewing, Omollo’s remains were placed in a black hearse as family members prepared to accompany him on his final journey to Kisii.
More relatives subsequently boarded the vehicles, with the procession eventually leaving the funeral home and beginning the journey to Kisii.
Family’s report
Omollo’s family had earlier announced that his body would leave General Kago Funeral Home on Thursday morning and proceed to Kisii, where family and friends would gather before the burial the following day.
According to the burial announcement, Omollo will be laid to rest on Friday, September 18, 2026, in Marani, Kitutu Chache North Constituency, Kisii County.
The family described the burial as an opportunity for relatives, friends and well-wishers to come together and give Omollo a dignified farewell.
“Forever In Our Hearts,” the family said in the announcement, adding: “A life well lived will always be remembered.”

The family also asked friends and well-wishers to continue keeping them in their prayers and supporting them through contributions where possible as preparations for the burial continued.
Omollo’s journey to his final resting place comes after his life was tragically cut short following an incident that occurred while he was with four other people.
His friend and fellow TikToker Mildred had previously revealed that the five were out for a walk when they were confronted by a group of thugs.
Mildred said Omollo died after fleeing towards the quarry side.
The circumstances surrounding his death have since left his friends, fellow content creators and followers mourning the loss of a young man whose presence on TikTok had been growing rapidly.
Fellow TikToker Leo had described Omollo as a “champion”, recalling how the young content creator had grown his following from about 1,000 followers to 100,000 in only four months.
