“Unfortunately, very intimately acquainted with grief. In 2020, my dad passed away,” Ciru Muriuki said in an interview on Friday, June 26, 2026.

“And when I was healing from that. I found love, and then I lost my fiancé in February 2024; that was Charles Ouda,” she said.

Ciru also recalled the comments she saw on social media after returning online. She said some of the remarks made about her personal life added to the pain she was already carrying.

“People on social media were like, ‘That is not her first partner that has died’. The shit people were saying were truly wild,” Ciru Muriuki said.

Remembering Charles Ouda

She explained that reading those comments left her feeling overwhelmed. According to Ciru, she could not understand why she had to go through such treatment while mourning someone she deeply loved.

“When I went back online, I think the first thing I felt was, I can’t catch a break, you guys? It felt so cruel and so unfair,” she said.

Ciru added that her experiences have changed how she looks at life. She said she now understands how quickly everything can change without warning.

“I am aware of how quickly things can change,” Ciru Muriuki said.

In February 2025, Ciru remembered Charles Ouda on the first anniversary of his passing. She shared an emotional message describing the pain she had lived with since losing the man she called the love of her life.

“A year ago today, I learned what pain was. True, devastating, earth-shattering pain. And in the minutes, hours, days since, your absence has taught me yet another lesson; that you were truly the love of my life,” Ciru wrote.

She also described how difficult life has been without him. Ciru said she misses his presence every day and continues to struggle with the reality of living without the man she had planned to spend her future with.
