America’s Independence Day

America’s Independence Day is celebrated annually on July 4 to mark the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, when the 13 American colonies declared their independence from British rule. The day is regarded as the birth of the United States as an independent nation.

This year holds special significance as the US begins commemorating 250 years of independence, a milestone known as America250 or Freedom 250.

Celebrations are taking place across the United States and at American embassies worldwide, featuring cultural events, community engagements and initiatives that celebrate the country’s history, democratic ideals and partnerships with nations around the globe.
