Bishop JB Masinde, Julian Kyula lead first-ever dedication of Uhuru Park as Rhema Feast nears start
By Steve Ireri, August 31, 2026Deliverance Church Umoja senior pastor Bishop JB Masinde, alongside Ruach Assemblies founder Reverend Julian Kyula, have led the first-ever dedication ceremony of Uhuru Park, a day ahead of the official opening ceremony of the highly anticipated Rhema Feast 2026.
In a video shared on Instagram on Sunday, August 30, 2026, Bishop Masinde is seen arriving at the venue dressed in a black suit and walking confidently as he greeted other preachers who had gathered for the commissioning ceremony.
He was accompanied by Kyula, who followed closely as the two ministers prayed over and dedicated the venue that is set to host the powerful Christian convention for more than five days in Nairobi.
While praying over the venue, Masinde poured a large bottle of oil across various sections of the grounds as he continued interceding for those expected to attend the convention, praying that they would leave the gathering with testimonies of what God had done in their lives.
He prayed that those who attend would also receive miracles and appealed to God to grant them different forms of healing, including spiritual restoration and salvation for those who had previously turned away from their faith.
“Father, we dedicate all this ground. Those who come here, let them receive their miracles. Receive their healings. In this field here, people will get healed and people will receive miracles. Miracles, God. Miracles of healing, miracles of salvation,” he said.
Masinde further extended his prayers to Christians who had fallen away from their faith, asking for their restoration while declaring that evil would have no place at the venue during the gathering.
“Backsliders also, in the name of Jesus, we declare that evil shall die. We dedicate it. This is holy ground,” he added.
Major event
The convention is scheduled to run from August 31 to September 4, 2026, under the central theme, “Come, Let Us Rebuild,” drawn from the biblical book of Nehemiah and centred on a message of spiritual renewal, restoration and rebuilding.
Convened by Reverend Julian Kyula, the gathering has grown into a prominent cross-denominational Christian forum in East Africa, combining intensive preaching and worship sessions with wider conversations touching on civic renewal and continental leadership.
Among the high-profile ministers scheduled to feature at this year’s gathering is Nigerian preacher Apostle Joshua Selman, the founder of Koinonia Global, whose teaching ministry has attracted a vast following across Africa.
He is expected to share the platform with fellow Nigerian preacher Apostle Michael Orokpo of Encounter Jesus Ministries International, who is making his first appearance at the Nairobi gathering.
Other featured word ministers include Reverend Julian Kyula, Apostle Grace Lubega of Phaneroo Ministries International in Uganda, Pastor Poju Oyemade of The Covenant Nation in Nigeria, Dr David Ogbueli of Dominion City, Bishop JB Masinde of Deliverance Church Umoja, Lady Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo, Lady Bishop Kathy Kiuna of Jubilee Christian Church, Apostle Mignonne Kabera of Rwanda, Apostle Felix Okoh of South Africa, Pastor T. Mwangi of Life Church International and Pastor George Macharia.
The five-day gathering will also feature worship and musical performances from some of Africa’s prominent gospel artistes, further broadening its appeal beyond the preaching sessions.
Among the musicians lined up are Nigerian worship leaders Sinach and Dunsin Oyekan, who are expected to perform alongside South African gospel figures Dr Tumi and Ntokozo Mbambo.
Organisers anticipate a significant turnout at the open-air venue throughout the gathering, with the event expected to draw faithful from Kenya and other parts of the continent as interest in large-scale apostolic conventions continues to grow across East Africa.
