Baba Talisha and Waithaka Wa Jane lead celebrities in mourning Karangu Muraya’s brother
By Steve Ireri, August 3, 2026Celebrities and public figures have come together to mourn the death of Joshua Muraya Kagema, the brother of popular Facebook influencer and philanthropist Karangu Muraya, with several sharing emotional tributes and memories of the late content creator and comedian.
The tributes came as friends and colleagues remembered Kagema, a budding content creator who died on the morning of Monday, August 3, 2026.
Among those who shared their condolences was Mugithi icon and one-man guitarist Waithaka Wa Jane, who expressed his sympathy to Karangu and his family while praying for the late Kagema’s soul to rest in eternal peace.
Waithaka said Kagema would always be remembered, while asking God to surround his brother Karangu and the rest of the family with peace as they navigate the difficult period.
“Rest in peace. You will always be remembered. May your soul rest in eternal peace. To my brother Karangu Muraya and the family, may God’s peace be upon you,” Waithaka Wa Jane wrote.
TikToker Faustine Lipuku, popularly known as Baba Talisha, also joined the growing list of celebrities mourning Kagema, describing the morning as a sad one while praying for the deceased to find eternal rest.
Baba Talisha also revealed that Kagema had personally played an important role in his life by introducing him to Sir Elium Designs, a connection he said he would always remain grateful for.
The TikToker remembered Kagema’s kindness and expressed his pain over his death, describing him as someone who had left the world too soon.
“A sad morning indeed. Rest in peace, Kagema Muraya. May God grant you eternal rest and comfort, Karangu Muraya and the entire family during this difficult time,” Baba Talisha wrote.
He then reflected on his personal connection with Kagema, adding: “Personally, Kagema was the one who introduced me to Sir Elium Designs. I’ll always be grateful for that connection and for his kindness. Gone too soon. Rest easy, champ.”
Gospel singer and Reverend Mary Lincon also mourned Kagema, revealing that his death had deeply affected her as she joined the family in seeking God’s comfort.
Mary Lincon prayed for God to have mercy on the family and grant them everlasting peace as they come to terms with the loss.
She also shared photographs from a past church event in which Kagema appeared to be gifting her a handbag, offering a glimpse into one of the personal moments they shared before his death.
“Rest in peace. This death has truly hurt me. Dear God……. Have mercy. Please give this family everlasting peace. RIP Joshua Muraya Kagema,” Mary Lincon wrote.
Singer Joyce Wa Mama also struggled to understand the loss, reflecting on the uncertainty of life while expressing sympathy for Karangu and his family.
Joyce questioned the purpose of life in the wake of Kagema’s death and admitted that she could not imagine the pain the family was experiencing.
“I really wonder what happens sometimes?? What’s the purpose of this life? God, give Karangu Muraya and the family comfort juu I can’t even try to imagine the pain they are going through now,” Joyce Wa Mama wrote.
One of the most emotional tributes came from Jesus Compassion Ministries [JCM] founder Bishop Ben Kiengei, who revealed the final words Kagema had shared with him before his death.
Kiengei said Kagema had personally asked him to continue praying for him while he was unwell, a request that has since taken on a painful significance following his death.
The bishop remembered Kagema as a harmless, simple and humble man, questioning how his friends and family would cope with the sudden loss.
Kiengei also turned his attention to Karangu’s family, recalling that they had recently endured another difficult loss involving Karangu’s mother and urging the family to remain strong despite the latest tragedy.
“His last words to me were, ‘Bishop, even when you are far away, remember to pray for me as I am unwell,’” Kiengei wrote.
He went on to describe the late Kagema as a person whose character had made him difficult to forget.
“This man was harmless, simple and humble. How do we cope with this?” he asked.
Kiengei then offered words of encouragement to Karangu’s mother, saying she had endured significant pain and asking God to give her strength and peace.
“Just the other day this family went through the same, mum to Karangu Muraya, may God give you strength and peace as a mother. You have gone through a lot,” he wrote.
The bishop also directly addressed Karangu, urging him to forgive those around him and reminding him that his friends and supporters would stand with him and his family during the difficult period.
“To my brother Karangu, forgive everyone and take it easy because we are here for you and for your family,” Kiengei added.
The tributes come after Karangu announced the death of his brother in an emotional message, revealing the immense pain he was experiencing following the loss.
“Dear bro Joshua Muraya Kagema, you have gone too soon. You promised not to disappoint me but you have done it, bro,” Karangu wrote.
He also remembered Joshua’s final words to him before expressing his anguish over the loss and admitting that he did not know how to break the news to their mother.
“I remember your last word, Karangu witu, Ngai akuongerere nyingi. I don’t know what to do now, I don’t know what to tell mum. Dear Lord, this is too much for me,” he added.
