Actor Brian Kabugi, popularly known as Real Bugi, has shared a message of gratitude after revealing that his late mother’s hospital bill has been fully cleared.

In a post shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the actor thanked everyone who contributed towards the medical bill and supported his family during a difficult period following the death of his mother, Lucy Njumbi Macharia.

The update comes nearly a week after Bugi publicly appealed for help to clear an outstanding hospital bill of Ksh3.8 million that had accumulated during his mother’s treatment.

“We woke up to the incredible news that Lucy’s hospital bill has been fully cleared. Thank you to everyone who contributed, shared, prayed, and supported us. Your kindness and generosity have carried us through one of the hardest seasons of our lives,” he wrote.

Appeal touched many Kenyans

Bugi’s appeal attracted support from friends, fans, colleagues and well-wishers after he openly shared the challenges his family was facing following his mother’s death. On June 18, 2026, the award-winning actor announced the passing of his mother in an emotional statement, revealing that she had been battling illness for some time.

He explained that the family had done everything possible to support her recovery but sadly lost her during her treatment.

“I never thought I would have to write a post like this. With a heavy heart, I share that my mother, my best friend, the woman who held me close and whom I held close, is no longer with us,” Kabugi wrote at the time.

He added that watching his mother fight through her illness was one of the most difficult experiences of his life.

“She had been unwell for some time, and we truly did everything we could. I watched her fight. I watched her push through. But on Monday morning, she chose to rest.”

Fundraiser concert still set to go on

Even with the hospital bill now settled, Bugi has encouraged supporters to attend a fundraiser concert organised in honour of his late mother. The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026, at The Alchemist in Westlands, Nairobi, and is expected to bring together friends, supporters and members of the entertainment industry.

According to the actor, the gathering will not only celebrate Lucy’s life but will also help the family meet funeral expenses as they prepare for her final send-off.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we still invite you to join us on Thursday as a community to honour Lucy’s life and help offset funeral costs. We would love to see you there,” he stated.
