Carey Priscilla urges couples to prioritise money talks early on

Content creator and makeup artist Carey Priscilla has shared her insights into some of the deeper conversations that people should have when dating.

The content creator unpacked the importance of having conversations around money early enough in a relationship via a statement on her official Facebook account.

According to Priscilla, anyone who makes it to the third date should have a conversation about money.

“If you make it to the third date, talk about money,” Priscilla stated.

Conversations about money

She added that the conversation should go beyond how much one earns to include aspects that ultimately define financial security and success.

The makeup artist noted that talking about spending habits, saving and planning with one’s partner ultimately determines

“And not just how much you earn but how you spend, save and plan. Because who you date can make you rich or poor,” she added.

Priscilla acknowledged that one’s financial life is influenced to a large extent by one’s partner, and setting things clear early is an important step.

“The person you marry influences your financial life more than we like to admit through habits, mindset, and even vision. That’s why it’s a conversation worth having early….”

Priscilla’s experience

Priscilla has on several occasions used her social media profiles to weigh in on topics such as marriage, social values and modern relationships.

Blending her personal experiences with faith, she does not shy away from addressing weighty issues, including challenges that come her way.

She suffered a major setback in September last year following the closure of her business in Nairobi CBD due to mismanagement.

“For everyone asking what happened, two months ago, I decided to open a high-end spa in Nairobi CBD, where our college alumni could work and grow. It was our way of creating employment opportunities while also using the proceeds from the spa to sponsor students who would otherwise not afford fees,” she said.

She embraced the challenge and vowed to soldier on, adding that she now has more experience.

Sasa nimeacha kulia 😂. I’m still the same girl who started everything from scratch, so the bottom is a familiar place for me. Only now do I have more experience, and I have grown spiritually. So we meet at the 🔝,” she added.
