Bishop Kiengei in tears after JCM church member they recently built house for dies

Jesus Compassion Ministries [JCM] founder Bishop Benson Kiengei, popularly known as Guka wa Nairobi, has been thrown into mourning following the death of a long-serving church member shortly after the congregation helped build him a home.

In a heartfelt Facebook post shared on Friday, January 9, 2026, Bishop Kiengei announced the passing of Mr Njoroge, a devoted member of Jesus Compassion Ministry (JCM) Church, who died while receiving treatment at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved brother in Christ, Mr Njoroge, was called home to be with the Lord on the 9th January 2026,” Kiengei wrote on Facebook.

The preacher revealed that Njoroge, fondly referred to as “Mzee Wetu” within the church, had been part of the JCM congregation for three years and was deeply loved by fellow worshippers and various church departments.

He noted that the late congregant was closely supported by the JCM Church Men Council, the welfare team, the Lord’s Store team, the medical department, and online members who stood with him throughout his illness.

“Mr Njoroge, as we referred to him at JCM CHURCH, was a cherished member of our congregation for three years and will be deeply missed by all who worshipped God together with him, the JCM Church Men Council, Welfare, the Lord Store team and the medical department who took care of him,” the bishop added.

Bishop Kiengei further shared that Mr Njoroge had been battling blood cancer for more than a decade, describing him as a fighter who refused to give up despite the long and painful journey.

He stated that the church stood in awe of his resilience, faith, and unwavering commitment to God even in the face of prolonged illness.

“Mr Njoroge has battled blood cancer for more than 10 years. He has finished the race as a fighter who refused to give up,” Kiengei wrote.

In his emotional message, the bishop highlighted that the church had recently built Njoroge a house through the Bishop Ben family settling programme, a gesture he said reflected how deeply the church valued and honoured him.

He added that the construction department had played a key role in ensuring the late congregant had a decent home, a milestone that brought him joy before his passing.

“Online members who supported him medically, the construction department who built him a home courtesy of Bishop Ben’s family settling programme, and of course the entire JCM CHURCH,” Kiengei shared.

The preacher also extended condolences to Njoroge’s family and friends, assuring them of the church’s support during the difficult period.

He stated that JCM Church would honour the late congregant in a manner that reflects how faithfully he served God and loved the church.

“Cancer will also die one day… We condole with his family and friends…. JCM Church will honour him in such a way that he honoured God and loved his church…. REST WELL MZEE WETU, MR NJOROGE, We loved you… Bishop Ben Kamau, the presiding bishop, JCM CHURCH INT’L,” Kiengei wrote.
