Siaya: 2 nabbed as police seize three sacks of bhang disguised as brooms

Police officers from Sinanga Police Post have apprehended two middle-aged men linked to at least three sacks of bhang tied as brooms in Siaya County.
In a post by the National Police Service on Monday, November 17, 2025, the police confirmed that the duo were nabbed following a successful operation in Ahono Village, Marenyo Sub-Location.

“Police officers from Sinanga Police Post have intensified their fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse following a successful operation in Ahono Village, Marenyo Sub-Location,” NPS said.
Likewise, the officers confirmed that the operation was a joint operation with National Government Administration Officers (NGAO).
“Acting on credible intelligence, the officers, working jointly with National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), conducted a raid on a homestead within the village,” NPS added.
Upon the raid in one of the homesteads, the officers confirmed that the two persons of interest, aged 28 and 25, were busted for recovering at least three sacks of cannabis sativa, each containing 80 brooms.

“During the search, they recovered three sacks of cannabis sativa, each containing 80 brooms. Two male suspects, aged 28 and 25, were arrested at the scene and escorted to Yala Police Station,” NPS confirmed.
The officers further confirmed that the duo are in custody as they await processing in court.
On the other hand, the police have confirmed they remain committed to safeguarding communities by enforcing laws against dangerous drugs and curbing the criminal networks involved in their distribution.
“The recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits, and the suspects are set to face charges related to the possession and trafficking of cannabis sativa.
