Suspect arrested as police recover heroin worth Ksh14M in street value

Police officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Anti-Narcotics Unit have arrested a suspected drug trafficker in Kilifi County and seized a large stash of heroin worth Ksh14.5 million.

The operation, which took place on the night of Monday, October 21, 2024, was conducted by National Police Service (NPS) officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit in Malindi, working closely with a team from Sabaki Bridge.

NPS said the team raided a house in Ngerenya Location, Kilifi County, where they uncovered a substance suspected to be heroin weighing approximately 3.6 kilograms.

“On 21/10/2024 night, NPS Officers from DCI Anti-Narcotics Unit Malindi together with a team from Sabaki Bridge acting on an intelligence-led operation in Ngerenya Location, Kilifi County recovered substance suspected to be Heroin weighing approximately 3.6 Kgs with an estimated market value of Ksh. 14,540,000/= from the house of one Salim Peter Katana, who was also arrested during the raid,” the statement shared by NPS read.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of Ksh14,540,000, were found in the home of one Salim Peter Katana, who was arrested during the raid.

Police are now holding Katana for further questioning as investigations continue.
